JK Custom Carves | Application Preview
JK Custom Carves is seeking government grants to support the expansion of its machining capabilities and to build a dedicated facility. The funding will be used to transition from CNC routers to CNC mills and lathes, allowing the business to produce high-quality parts with tight tolerances efficiently. The goal is to have the equipment paid off and to hire an employee within five years, paving the way for further growth.
The owner, a 34-year-old single father with an associate's degree in machine tool technology and eight years of CNC machining experience, emphasizes a strong work ethic shaped by his upbringing in upstate New York. His commitment to achieving his goals drives the vision for the business.
JK Custom Carves distinguishes itself from competitors by acting more as a collaborative job shop rather than competing directly. The ability to provide quick turnaround times for local manufacturers is a significant advantage, as most existing shops are geared towards high-volume production of specific products. By maintaining flexibility and responsiveness to customer needs, JK Custom Carves aims to foster strong relationships, ensuring repeat business.

Business Plan
By having machines capable of holding tight tolerances, high quality and be completed in efficient time our customers will keep returning. The 5 year go is to have everything paid off and have One hired employee. By that time our business should be ready for another expansion. Im originally from upstate New York, Dairy farm country. Where I learned responsibilities and work ethic day in and day out. Im 34 years old and a Single Full Custody Father to a beautiful daughter now. I have an associates degree in machine tool technology and 8 years cnc machining experience. When it comes to setting a goal, I won’t give up until achieved. This is my dream and I will own my own cnc machine shoo here in South Carolina. I wont give up!

Self Identified Competition
I wouldn’t consider any a competitor as most machine shop work together depending on work loads. Being a small job shop will benifit just not the public but also all local manufacturers as parts can be made in the same day! Most other shops are setup for production of a specific product or part. We are capable of a faster turn around.
