Urban Traditions Barbershop | Application Preview
Urban Traditions Barbershop is applying for government grants to support the opening of a new location. The funds will be allocated for upfront lease and utility payments for three months, along with expenses for signage, supplies, marketing, and payroll coverage for the same period.
The business owner has a vision for growth, planning to establish a mobile barbershop within two years and hire an additional barber. In five years, the goal is to expand from a single-chair setup to a 5-8 chair shop, ultimately aiming to create a chain of barbershops and mobile services across multiple cities and states in the next decade.
The owner cites a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a history of overcoming personal financial challenges as reasons for funding approval. With a solid reputation in northern Colorado, highlighted by being the official barber for the Colorado State University football team, the owner demonstrates dedication and ambition in the industry.
Urban Traditions Barbershop aims to fill a gap in services for minority communities in the region, offering a unique expertise in minority hair care that sets it apart from local competitors, such as a small town shop and the chain Floyd’s 99. The competitive edge lies in a specialized knowledge of diverse beauty services that are not widely available in the area.

Business Plan
I plan to branch out and open a mobile barbershop in 2 years. Employing 1 more barber. In 5 years the plan is to expand the 1 chair barbershop into a 5-8 chair shop. And eventually become a chain in the next 10 years. All including multiple mobile barbershops for surrounding cities and states. I have a drive and entrepreneur mind. I have never had the opportunity to grow due to personal financial responsibility’s in the past. I have also gained and maintained an outstanding reputation in northern Colorado as a reliable, trustworthy, and humble barber in the industry l. I have reached goals I have set for myself such as, becoming the Colorado state university football team official barber. I am dedicated and more than willing to reach an even higher goal I have set for myself in an industry I am so passionate about.

Self Identified Competition
I can honestly say. I offer a service targeted mainly to more minority groups. I am versatile in every aspect of the beauty industry and to be quite honest. The northern Colorado region that is lacking. If I had to name a competitor, it would be a small town local shop, and possibly a chain called Floyd’s 99. As mentioned in the competition answer. I am extremely educated on minority hair and services. I offer such services that no one else can
