B & C Sports and Apparel | Application Preview
B & C Sports and Apparel is seeking government grants to overcome financial difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds will primarily be used to pay off outstanding bills and restock merchandise, as many customers are still recovering financially and unable to make purchases. The business, which is Minnesota's oldest independent sporting goods store and a staple in South Minneapolis, has witnessed a decline in sales and community support due to the pandemic.
The company has a strong commitment to community support, having donated a significant portion of its profits to assist other small local businesses during tough times. Their history includes sponsoring numerous youth teams and providing equipment to children in need, which highlights their dedication to fostering sports participation in the community.
B & C Sports and Apparel hopes to rebound as corporate accounts normalise and intends to expand its staff and customer base. They face competition from online retail giants but maintain a unique position as the last brick-and-mortar sporting goods store in their area. Their competitive advantage lies in their community involvement, including sponsorship of youth sports and providing assistance to those who cannot afford equipment.
The company is humbly seeking support for the first time due to the unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19, expressing that closure would hinder their ability to continue contributing to the community and supporting local youth sports.

Funding Usage
Money to pay off bill's and be able to buy new goods to sell so we can stay in business. We were hit very hard by Covid and most of our customers are trying to get back on their feet. They do not have money to buy the things we sold them and will not for another6 months to a year.

Business Plan
We plan on growing once corporate accounts get back to normal. Once they do and we get busy again we can add more staff and expand our customers. We are Minnesota's oldest independent Sporting Goods and the last one left in South Minneapolis. We are 3rd generation. When we we shut down we sold a Minnesota strong shirt online to help us stay alive. We donated 33 percent of the profits to other small Mom and Pop storne in and around south Minneapolis. We gave away $27,000 of the money that we could have used ourselves. That money is now gone and our customers for youth sports, High schools and corporate business has not come back yet. Our store has always help those who could not afford to play the sports they love. we do this by giving kids the equipment they need to play. We made the Miracle on Ice 1980 Olympic Ice hockey uniforms when the USA team beat the Russians and went on to win Gold. We have sponsored hundred of teams and thousands of kids in our history. It would be a shame if We could no longer help out the inner city kids due to us shutting our doors for good. We have never asked for help before Covid and it is very Humbling to ask now,

Self Identified Competition
most of our competitors are online sales giants like Amazon. We are the last walk in brick and Mortar store of our kind in south Minneapolis. We are a family business. others like us are getting few and far between. Most of our competitors are from out of sate or online. WE give back to the schools and associations that but from us. We sponsor over 100 youth teams as well as set up free online store's for them to make money on everything we sell. Over the years we have given kids who could not afford equipment to play the sports they love. We do this without recognition. Giving a pair of shoes or skates to a coach to give to the athlete. My Father who started the business in 1962 left a huge grant to Dyno Mite hockey in his will and they have names a Hockey tournament after him as a thank you. This year we have not been able to sponsor those who need it due to Covid and the hardship we have faced due to it.
