Blue-Vanity 86-3141297 | Government Grant Application

Blue-Vanity | Application Preview

Blue-Vanity is seeking government grants to cover startup expenses, including relocation costs, inventory, store remodeling, and contractor fees. The business owner aims to expand into online sales and create a personal fashion line for customers.

As a single black mother raising six children under 11, the applicant's journey has been challenging. After her husband left for a younger woman, which was particularly painful due to his infidelity with a minor, she lost her job during the pandemic and has faced significant hardships. Currently, she and her children are living with her grandmother, struggling to make ends meet. To support her family, she has utilized her skills in eyelash application and hair braiding, but she seeks to grow her business to provide a better life for her family.

The plan involves relocating to a larger city with more market opportunities, as the small town has an oversupply of similar services. Competitors include Lashes’ de yami, Upscale, and Klove Slay. However, Blue-Vanity's competitive edge lies in the owner's diverse skill set, which includes nail services, and the vision of combining a clothing store with a beauty salon under one roof, enhancing customer convenience and experience.

Online sales is a big dream of mine and having my own line of fashion as well to sell to my customers. It would really boost me as a single black mother of 6 children under the age 11 I raised them by myself my husband left me for a younger woman and it really hurt because the girl was under age when he started seeing her and he left us with nothing. I lost my job during the pandemic and we struggled hard. Right now we are homeless living with my grandma. I took a eyelash technician class and I naturally learned to braid hair as a teenager. So I use that now to get us by when I can’t pay for what they need. I started wanting to sell more and do more without standing and sitting for hours one 1 person. So I decided that I should get into the mall and relocate to a bigger city where there is more of an opportunity for us to make an income. I live in a small town and it’s hard here because so many people do the same thing.
