The-HID, LLC NTYFPB3QED24 | Government Grant Application

The-HID, LLC | Application Preview

The-HID, LLC, a disabled veteran and female-owned business, is applying for a $3 million government grant to develop and launch a comprehensive digital platform called the Ombudsman. The primary goal of this platform is to address gaps in support and services for military members, veterans, their families, and guardians—especially during deployments and after service—by creating a centralized, accessible solution that connects users with both medical and non-medical resources.

Current platforms like MiLife, Battle Buddy, and Tricare CPD each offer valuable services but focus on specific areas or benefits, often tied directly to the VA or healthcare. They don’t provide a full-picture, one-stop approach. The Ombudsman aims to bridge those gaps by creating a unified system that supports service coordination across healthcare, education, caregiver support, burial services, and more, with local customization and vendor partnerships.

The team behind The-HID brings over 35 years of IT experience, including 25 years in healthcare, and a strong background in military tech operations through service in the U.S. Air Force. Their extensive work with government systems and understanding of both payer and provider aspects of healthcare gives them a distinct edge in creating effective solutions for underserved communities.

They propose a phased funding option, with the full grant covering end-to-end development and launch. Post-deployment, revenue will also come from vendor advertising and service offerings, with future plans to expand the platform to help foster children and their support systems. The-HID is positioning the Ombudsman as a unique, scalable tool addressing a critical need in the military and veteran support space.

As we are a disabled veteran, female owned and operated company, looking to uplift our community through the use of easily accessible technology. We expect the majority of our funding will be used to employ resources to develop this state of the art solution that will provide a one stop support location. This application is designed to connect people in need of services and support with providers of that care. $3,000,000.00 will fully fund our company through development and initiation of services. We also have the option of funding by development stage.

  • Business Plan

This application, the Ombudsman, exposes and resolves gaps in the coordination of services and resources for Our Heroes (active-duty military members, veterans, their families, and their guardians), especially when service members are deployed and veterans. Current systems like Defense Enrollment and Eligibility Reporting system (DEERs) and MiLife provide some support, but there is not a single cohesive platform for all necessary services. The support provided by DEERs and MiLife is for Military and Veterans. We plan a nationwide rollout, customized by state and local vendors. Our business will grow as additional vendors learn and choose to be a part of our offerings to the military and their loved ones. We will also solicit additional income by allowing vendors to offer additional services by way of advertising or targeted outreach to our application community. Once the platform is built and stabilized, there are plans to modify and enhance to bring in offerings for our vulnerable foster children and their support caretakers. The-HID was founded on the foundation of more than 35 years of extensive experience in Information Technology, with 25 of those years dedicated specifically to the healthcare sector. Our journey began with programming in the United States Air Force, where we honed our technical skills in a high-stakes environment. This foundational experience seamlessly transitioned into a focus on networking while still serving in the Air Force and ultimately evolved into a successful career in the commercial industry. The 25 years in the healthcare sector have been spent in the payer and provider space, servicing both the insurance sectors, the physicians, and care management portions. The company’s strong military and healthcare background has provided a strong understanding in creating the applications that help Our Heroes find goods and services needed in their areas.

  • Self Identified Competition

At this point there is no application that is specifically in competition with The Ombudsman application. There are a couple of applications that do cover the benefits that the Ombudsman application is not intended to cover. The other applications are complementary to this application. Here are some brief descriptions of the other applications: MiLife – the MiLife application was created to provide assistance to military members and their families, The application does allow for some vendor interaction MWR Education benefits Obtaining a copy of your discharge papers Mental health Caregiver assistance Burial benefits Events for military families Battle Buddy – created and released by Vetlife. This application covers Locating a Veteran Service Officer (VSO) Enrolling in VA Healthcare Finding employment opportunities  Disability Compensation Obtaining a VA home loan Education benefits Obtaining a copy of your discharge papers Mental health Caregiver assistance Burial benefits Events for veteran families As well as other valuable veteran specific resources  The Battle Buddy, similar to MiLife provides benefits and information obtained and registered with the veterans' offices. These benefits are critical for helping veterans to understand what kinds of services they have available. Most are related to the VA; vendors and entities can register with them. Tricare CPD – The Tricare Competitive Demonstration Program expanded some of the health benefits distribution provided by Tricare over the last several years. The intent is to create interest in partnering with the Defense Health Agency and demonstrate care delivery similar to the private sector. This sector of benefits is specific to healthcare and while the different benefits the Ombudsman does influence healthcare; they are not directly healthcare components. Healthcare Mental health Dental Coordination of Care Our company has a unique blend of decades of healthcare and military backgrounds. Additionally, we have worked directly with many government entities over the course of our careers. We had the unique perspective to observe the gaps not covered by our competitors. For example, Tricare focuses specifically on most medical needs, and leaves out items such as educational, burial and caregiver non-medical support. Whereas MiLife does not assist with Medical support, but focuses on non- medical. We are different. We are embracing the gap between other applications and looking for a solution that will provide single stop relief to our struggling Active and Veteran service members, families, and their caretakers guardians and other necessary people.
