Funding Usage
As a Registered Dietitian and student in a Doctoral of Behavioral Health program, I have been studying the gaps in primary care and the lack of focus on patient-centered preventive care and education in the Lehigh Valley, in Pennsylvania. If granted, this funding would be used to expand a small private practice into a wellness center that focuses on preventive care and education to the residents of the Lehigh Valley, in Pennsylvania. Our mission is to make a positive impact on the communities we serve by offering a whole-person-centered approach to health and lifestyle management, backed by evidence-based research. Through the use of chronic disease prevention/management education, medical nutrition therapy, intuitive and mindful practices, behavioral health interventions, injury prevention approaches, and worksite wellness programs, we hope to improve the overall health and wellness of our community. We would also track outcomes on the individuals and communities we serve, to provide more data on the benefits of patient-centered preventive care. The funding would be used for acquiring and enhancing an appropriate location, developing educational programming, marketing and research, as well as paying licensed professionals, such as Registered Dietitians, Behavioral Health Professionals, etc.

By showing improved outcomes in the health and wellness of our community, we plan to expand by building additional wellness centers and serving larger populations. We would also research and explore additional evidence-based services to further supplement implementation of healthy habits. Additionally, we plan to offer a national virtual counseling option that would look to add licensed professionals in other states. We are passionate about building a healthier community and filling the gaps in our current healthcare model, which lacks a focus on patient-centered preventive care, and behavioral health. We are constantly looking to expand our education to provide the best possible interventions for promoting healthy habits and improving overall health and wellness.

Self Identified Competition
Our top three competitors include: 1. Local large health networks, whose models are focused on number of patients served and pharmaceutical interventions 2. Influencers who market quick-fix fad diets that lead to disordered eating 3. Other professionals who market expensive "one-size-fits all" interventions and do not look at each patient as an individual. As stated above, we focus on individualized, patient-centered preventive care that offers sustainable solutions to improving wellness. Our competitors do not take into account the behavioral component involved in making lifestyle changes. A deep level of understanding is required to prepare an individual for change, and the commitment to working with that individual to overcoming barriers and challenges to implementing habitual changes. EMPOWER Nutrition & Wellness is devoted to personalized, patient-centered, preventive care, where we can help individuals build self-awareness and self-confidence for making necessary lifestyle changes.
