Palomita 86-2288727 | Government Grant Application

Palomita | Application Preview

Palomita Salon is seeking government grants to cover startup expenses, including retail shelving, salon equipment, break room furnishings, and partial space build-out. The funding will also serve as a financial cushion.

The business plan involves initially establishing the salon and then recruiting additional stylists to rent chairs as independent contractors. This approach aims to promote financial growth while allowing more time for family, particularly during life events like maternity leave.

Palomita's founders bring extensive experience from both the beauty and other industries, having previously operated independently. They understand the gaps in current rental spaces and plan to foster a collaborative environment for new stylists through mentorship and flexible payment options. Their construction background enables them to manage salon space effectively.

The proposed location in Beaverdale offers strong community support and loyalty to local businesses. While there are three nearby salons, each serves specific demographics and lacks the collaborative approach Palomita is aiming for. The founders, with their fresh perspectives and commitment to staying current with trends, position Palomita to cater to a diverse clientele across all ages in the community.

  • Funding Usage

Our funding will be put towards all start up expenses for Palomita Salon. We will need to purchase retail shelving, salon equipment/stations, furnish break room, and pay for partial build out of our space. It will also be a cushion to be used as reserves.

  • Business Plan

After getting our feet on the ground we would like to pursue other sytlists to join our team and rent salon chairs from Palomita. They would be their own independent contractor in an urban friendly environment. Having extra renters would help us gain more financial freedom to grow our business more and give back to our community. We also know how uncertain it can be to have something like maternity leave go down when you’re a renter - $0 income. it could eventually become a source of passive income for us so that we are able to spend more time with our kids as they grow up. We have experience not just in beauty industry but also in OTHER industries (like fashion, biz) AND self employment. We have successfully been working on our own already and know what is missing from an independent space, which is why we want to create one for ourselves and for other advanced stylists. We offer high end and on-trend services in a laidback environment. We aim to mentor and lift up stylists who are new to renting if they have the drive to succeed by offering scaled payment options. Our husbands work/ed in construction so we can create and fix our own space as needed. Our location is everything - the neighborhood has a loyalty to local biz unlike anywhere else in the city. When we split up to different salons again, multiple clients have asked when we’re getting back together because people WANT US to be working in the same place again.

  • Self Identified Competition

In Beaverdale (where we live and want to start the salon space) there are three other salons. AC salon is located in the heart of Beaverdale. They seem to service an older generation of men and women. Franklin Avenue Barbershop is located right next door to AC salon. This is an establishment that takes strictly men. Trizia Salon is also located in the heart of Beaverdale. There is one stylist that is not looking to expand any business or have any additional employees/renters in her space. Both members of Palomita LLC have worked in very urban salons leading up to the start of this adventure. We have young, fresh, and new mindsets on what is currently trending. We both live in Beaverdale, Iowa and are looking not only for the convenience of the location but to work in community that we know that we will be supported by neighbors, friends, and family. We service all generations of clients and stay current with trends and education.
