BLUSH Boot Camp | Application Preview
BLUSH Boot Camp is seeking government grant funding to support two key initiatives that align with their mission to empower women through fitness, mindset, and community. First, the funding will be used for safety and accessibility upgrades within their gym facility, including catch bars and protective mats, to create a safer, more inclusive environment for all women—especially beginners, postpartum mothers, and those with joint concerns. Second, the funds will help stabilize payroll to retain trained staff who are vital to the supportive and consistent experience members rely on.
Located in a growing community in Lawrence, BLUSH aims to expand its presence by engaging in volunteer events, partnering with like-minded small businesses, and strengthening internal member networks to improve client retention and reduce reliance on promotional pricing strategies.
Unlike competitors like Burn Boot Camp, Orangetheory, and F45 Training, BLUSH differentiates itself with a women-only environment, a deep-rooted “sisterhood” culture, and workouts tailored specifically to women's bodies and goals. These unique aspects contribute to high member satisfaction and loyalty, powering sustainable growth through referrals and long-term engagement.
Grant funding would help BLUSH enhance both its physical space and team stability, allowing the business to continue offering a safe, empowering, and community-driven fitness experience for women.

Funding Usage
At BLUSH, our mission is to empower women through strength, mindset, and community. To further that mission, we will use grant funding for two critical initiatives: Facility Safety & Accessibility Upgrades We plan to improve the safety of our gym space by installing catch bars, protective wall mats, and other joint- and injury-prevention equipment. These upgrades will ensure a safer environment for women of all fitness levels, particularly beginners, postpartum mothers, and those with joint sensitivities. This investment aligns with our commitment to providing a welcoming, accessible, and injury-conscious space for every woman. Staff Retention & Payroll Stability Our team is the heart of the BLUSH experience. Grant funds will help us maintain payroll stability, ensuring that our highly trained, supportive team members are fairly compensated and retained long-term. This supports consistent, high-quality service and strengthens our member relationships — which are essential to retention, trust, and transformation.

Business Plan
The location is in a great area for us to capitalize on the growing community in Lawrence, young mothers, college coeds, and women who are seeking to improve their health through fitness. One way of growing is to get our name and our ladies in the public by volunteering in the community. I have plans to help with University of Kansas move-in day for the general population and for the sororities. I also have plan to market ourselves to other small businesses who sell products that align with our vision and to work within the club on building a strong community and improving retention. I would like to get to a point where I do not have to market with offering challenges to earn money back, or offers that take away from the revenue as is in place right now. I would like to show that our brand is continuously improving and moving forward with the fitness world. BLUSH Boot Camp’s focus on community is not a marketing gimmick—it’s a growth strategy. We create emotional buy-in through personalized experiences, inclusive programming, and a culture that women are proud to be a part of. This drives high member retention and referrals—two key revenue engines.

Self Identified Competition
Burn Boot Camp is the closest to the BLUSH model. Their strength is a more one-on-one coaching style and the equipment and layout can be perceived as better in some locations. Orangetheory Fitness is highly structured, high energy, and similar to BLUSH has heart rate monitoring. The class structure and pricing being transparent is their strength. F45 Training specializes in full-body circuit-type group workouts. Their workouts are typically coed and they use rotating formats and have a strong social media presence. 1. Women-Only Environment Unlike our competitors, our club is 100% women only. This fosters a safe, nonjudgemental, empowering space designed specifically around the needs of women, from the programming to the community culture. Due to these aspects we tend to be attractive to women who are new to fitness, postpartum, or just seeking a safe environment. 2. Strong Community & Sisterhood Culture BLUSH isn’t just a gym, we emphasize emotional wellness, confidence, and connection. Our brand cultivates a “sisterhood” feel through events, support groups, and member engagement. While Burn also has some community aspects, BLUSH is built on it from the ground up. 3. Unique Workout Programming for Women All the workouts at BLUSH are designed specifically for women’s physiology and goals (strength, stability, endurance, fat loss). Our sessions vary daily and we mix strength, cardio, core, and functional fitness but with female biomechanics and comfort in mind. Our mission is to empower women through fitness. It can be seen in the confidence and long-term self-worth we see emerge from our members.
