Clever Thinking Therapy | Application Preview
Clever Thinking Therapy is applying for government grant funding to support the launch phase of a solo, woman- and veteran-owned mental health practice based in North Salt Lake City. The business aims to serve seniors in assisted living and nursing home settings, focusing on combating depression, anxiety, and loneliness through regular, in-person therapy.
The funding would be used to cover operational costs over the next six months as the practice builds a client base. Expenses include monthly rent ($1,300), marketing efforts such as expos and SEO setup, content creation for social media, membership fees for professional organizations, and subscriptions for HIPAA-compliant communication and electronic health records systems.
The business plan focuses on community engagement through health and senior expos and partnerships with local clinics. Social media platforms will also be leveraged to drive awareness.
What sets Clever Thinking Therapy apart from larger competitors is the provision of consistent, on-site therapy—something many nursing home residents currently lack. While larger institutions focus on medication management, this practice is committed to hands-on talk therapy and cognitive behavioral interventions that improve mental wellness and quality of life.
Approving funding would help expand critical mental health services for underserved senior populations in Utah, supporting better emotional health and care outcomes in long-term care facilities.

Funding Usage
Marketing monthly expenses, setting up booths at expos are 1,600 dollars each. Setting up SEO and google webpages. Needing to hire someone to help with social content so this money would help fund that. Pay the rent 1300 a month to keep the office space going. Monthly memberships for my electronic health data base 100 dollars a month and phone memberships for HIPPA compliant 130 a month. I would like to be a member of several organizations that are 200 dollars to become members of. This money would hopefully carry me 6 months til I build a caseload of clients.

Business Plan
Being an active exhibitor for health expos and senior expos performing in the health screening events for the community. I plan on growing by working with local primary care offices and mental health offices. Using social media to expand the exposure on facebook, twitter, Linkedin. Veteran, woman owned solo mental health practice in North Salt Lake City helping seniors in the assisted living, nursing home area. Fight depression, loneliness, anxiety for seniors. So they can have healthy minds with longevity. Supporting my business would support mental health for the Utah community.

Self Identified Competition
Large companies like Davis Behavioral health, Huntsman Mental Health Institute, and Behavioral health Intermountain. The large companies have claimed the nursing home facilities but do not do therapy which is needed for the residents. Specifically, I have worked in the nursing homes in Monument facilities and know that therapy is not available regularly on a weekly bases. Their is one social worker that goes to many facilities and she can not do all the therapy herself. By supporting another therapist we can get to more people in need. Nursing homes do not need more prescribers pushing meds but people trained in mental health to provide talk therapy, cognitive behavior therapy. Providing weekly sessions is something I can do to help clients break negative thought patterns. This will allow higher ratings on surveys. I can provide in person service which is something my competitors do not do. People would have to find a ride to the competitors and likely miss their PT and OT therapy and even medications they need. My services would be a tremendous assist if supported.
