Lazy Crave | Application Preview
Lazy Crave is applying for a government grant to help fund the purchase of a commercial soft serve machine, which is the most expensive and essential piece of equipment for their storefront. The machine is critical to many of their main offerings, including floats, shakes, and their upcoming line of custom ice cream cakes.
Their business plan includes expanding their menu with bagels and waffles alongside coffee and ice cream. Bagels with cream cheese will be offered in the mornings, while pizza bagels will be available in the evenings. They plan to introduce family-friendly activities like ice cream-making classes, and offer rentals for events, including oversized games and an ice cream truck. They also plan to acquire a smaller, more affordable ice cream trailer for smaller events and are developing standard operating procedures with the goal of expanding to additional locations, possibly starting with one in Maine.
The brand’s success so far is credited to its unique combination of products, modernized approach to the traditional ice cream truck experience, and focus on high-quality ingredients, including premium dairy products and dye-free ice cream from a local creamery.
Lazy Crave claims to have little direct competition, as no one else combines hand-scooped and soft-serve ice cream, coffee, and food the way they do. Their competitive edge lies in the overall experience they offer: a place where families can gather, relax, and enjoy a wide variety of treats in a fun and interactive environment. Features like a kids' play area, customer-driven flavor creation, and unique offerings such as ice cream nachos and tacos set them apart from traditional ice cream shops.

Funding Usage
The money will be spent on a new soft serve machine for the storefront which is by far our most expense piece of equipment. It is half of our proposed budget. This ice cream machine is essential for a lot of our products like floats, shakes and our new ice cream cakes.

Business Plan
We plan to grow by adding bagels and waffles to go with the coffee and ice cream. We will have bagels and cream cheese in the morning and pizza bagel at night. We plan to start our custom ice cakes once we have the space. We are adding other things to rent besides the ice cream truck for events like big connect four, big chess and lots of other fun things for people to enjoy at their event. We will start our ice cream maker classes for families to come to the store for a night out. we plan on acquiring an ice cream trailer that will be a smaller more cost effective option for smaller events. While we are in the process of opening this store we are also creating an SOP so we will have the framework for our next store. We are also looking at starting an ice cream trailer in Maine where I am originally from. I believe we have created a great brand and concept for expansion. People love our new style of ice cream truck that is not as limited as older ice cream trucks. with having coffee and both soft serve and hand scooped ice cream we are able to go to events all day and fulfill everyone's cravings. We have the fun brand/logo that people love to take pictures next to which draws people in. We are very careful in selecting the best products to sell which keeps people coming back. once we are able to add bagels and waffles it will complete the lazy crave brand. We use a higher percentage milk fat mix for our soft serve which make for a creamier soft serve. We use the high quality milk which adds great flavor to our coffees and brings our milk shakes to a higher level. We use a smaller creamery for our hand scoop that does not use any dyes and won best ice cream in the Tampa Bay area. We are creating a great experience and selling only the best products.

Self Identified Competition
There really isn't a true competitor because no one sells the same combination of stuff like we do. We have singular competitors like hand scoop places, soft serve places, coffee places and bagel places. With our store we are able to provide different combinations. Most ice cream shops are very similar. They usually also have a good product and people go there get their ice cream and leave. We want to create a fun environment were people want to stay have some ice cream, food and coffee. We will have a kids play area which makes it easier for families with younger children. We will have the lazy crave lab where families come and create their own ice cream and can vote on new flavors/ideas. Making people feel more connected and apart of the store. We also have fun new ways for kids to enjoy ice cream with our ice cream nachos and ice cream tacos among other things.
