Shear Madness Salon | Application Preview
Shear Madness Salon is seeking government grants to cover marketing costs and create a financial safety net for unexpected expenses. The salon's business plan focuses on developing a team of booth renters and independent contractors to expand operations, although current COVID restrictions are limiting this expansion. To combat these challenges, the owners plan to invest heavily in local marketing to attract more clients.
The owners are passionate about their work and committed to helping clients look and feel their best. They emphasize their strong work ethic and determination to ensure the salon's profitability. While facing competition from well-known chains like Great Clips, Fantastic Sam's, and Cost Cutters, the owners believe their experience—totaling 47 years in the hair industry—gives them an advantage.
Their competitive edge lies in their genuine love for the business and the positive client experiences they create. The salon is known for its cleanliness and family-friendly atmosphere, and there is strong community support for the female-owned small business. This combination of passion, experience, and community backing makes a compelling case for grant approval.

Business Plan
Our business plan involves hiring booth renters, independent contractors to assist in building our salon business. Covid restrictions aren't allowing for that at this time so heavy marketing in our area to increase our clientele. My business partner and I LOVE what we do and want to continue helping people look and feel great. We aren't afraid of hard work and will do what it takes to make our salon profitable.

Self Identified Competition
Our top 3 competitors are Great Clips, Fantastic Sam's and Cost Cutters. But my business partner and I worked for Cost Cutters before we lost our jobs. We feel that our salon pricing is competitive in our market area and our customer service is exceptional. We understand the hair industry which between myself and my partner bring 47 years of experience. We love what we do and our clients see and feel that when they come in. We run a clean and family friendly salon. We've built a large clientele and and community wants us to succeed as a female owned small business.
