Laie Vanilla Company | Application Preview
Laie Vanilla Company is seeking government grants to support the construction of an 80x80 shade house for 800 vanilla plants currently located in a backyard. With a recent farm lease secured, funds will be allocated for necessary materials including galvanized poles, shade cloth, ground cloth, water lines, and rental of farm equipment.
The business's five-year plan includes supplying vanilla beans to all restaurants in Hawaii, boosting the local economy by attracting tourists to their vanilla farm, and engaging high school students in educational initiatives about vanilla and agriculture. They also aim to produce a Hawaiian vanilla extract for distribution to major retailers like Costco and Sam's Club.
Approval for funding is requested based on the unique niche of vanilla production in Oahu, which requires patience as the crop takes five years to grow and cure. The company has been growing vanilla for three years and is poised to sell its first crops, with plans to improve yield and quality.
In terms of competition, Laie Vanilla Company is up against established brands like McCormick, Neilsen-Massey, and Hawaiian Vanilla Co. However, their competitive advantage lies in growing vanilla locally in Hawaii, emphasizing products that are "grown in the USA" and supporting domestic production.

Business Plan
In the next 5 years I plan to supply all of Hawaiis restaurant with Vanilla beans. Also, I plan to help boost Hawaiis economy by attracting people to come take a tour on oahus own Vanilla farm. I plan to get into high schools to help educate kids about Vanilla and farming in general. Also I plan to manufacture hawaiis own Vanilla extract company to distribute to costco, Sam club and Walmart. Vanilla is a crop that takes 5years and a lot of patience to grow and cure. I have been growing for 3 years and we are finally in a position to sell out first crops this year and moving forward we will yeild more and get better at growing and curing Vanilla. Plus nobody is doing it in Oahu Hawaii where people Vacation all the time.

Self Identified Competition
McCormick, Neilsen-Massey, and Hawaiian Vanilla co. Unlike McCormick and Nelsen-massey we grow our own Vanilla in Hawaii. That means grown in the USA, MADE IN THE USA. We will be a company that supports and supply from the Usa.
