Mary Alice Pollok | Application Preview
Mary Alice Pollok's government grant application outlines her plan to establish a business focused on providing education and support concerning hospice care, particularly for seniors. She intends to use the grant funding to concentrate on building her business over the next two years while she works full-time to secure relevant contracts.
The business strategy includes print advertising and hosting speaking engagements in senior communities, as well as participating in city and county programs like the Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, she plans to conduct educational seminars targeted at home health and caregiving agencies.
Pollok argues for funding approval by highlighting the growing need for healthcare information as the aging population increases. She aims to alleviate the fear surrounding hospice care by offering impartial advocacy and education about its true nature. Her approach differentiates her from competitors, as she seeks to provide trustworthy information rather than sales-driven insights typical of hospice agencies.
With over 20 years of experience in the hospice field and three master's degrees in social work, chaplaincy, and paralegal studies, Pollok emphasizes her qualifications and the supportive services she intends to offer. She believes her model will effectively address the gap in honest, comprehensive information for patients facing hospice diagnoses.

Business Plan
Print advertising, speaking engagements for senior communities; city/county programs like the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and educational seminars for home heath agencies and caregiving agencies. As our population grows, so does the need for healthcare information like hospice. Hospice is a growing industry with fierce competition among agencies. I would like to help seniors emotionally cope with their hospice diagnosis and offer education about what hospice is and what it is not. Just the word "hospice" strikes fear in most people's heart. I would also act as the patient/client's impartial advocate to assist them with choosing which hospice is will best meet this need.

Self Identified Competition
None My concept is different in that I am educating people with impartiality. At this time, those who have been given a hospice diagnosis can only get their information from each individual hospice agency who sales people who try to push their company. I would offer psycho/social/and spiritual support as a qualified person with over 20 years in the field of hospice. I hold three (3) master level degrees: social work (USC), chaplaincy (Ohio Christian University), and paralegal studies (UCLA).
