Dayton Volleyball Academy, llc 804097248 | Government Grant Application

Dayton Volleyball Academy, llc | Application Preview

Dayton Volleyball Academy, LLC is applying for government grants to support the construction of a gymnasium and acquire essential equipment like volleyballs, nets, and practice shirts. Additionally, part of the funding will be allocated for marketing efforts, including flyers and building an online presence.

The business aims to serve as a volleyball performance practice center for club players of various ages and skill levels. Operating after school hours from 5-9 pm, the Academy plans to tailor sessions according to the players' needs, fostering strong relationships with participants. Leveraging the owner's role at a local elementary school, the Academy will promote its services directly to students and staff. The long-term vision includes establishing a club for players coached by the owner, emphasizing sportsmanship and core values in volleyball. The goal is to have both local and travel teams ready by the beginning of the 2023 season, alongside providing recruitment opportunities for students interested in college-level volleyball.

The funding request is driven by a passion for volleyball and a commitment to empowering girls in the community, particularly in a small town where such opportunities are limited. The owner wants to create an environment that builds confidence and resilience among young players.

In terms of competition, the Academy acknowledges a local volleyball club and the YMCA as potential challengers but believes its focus on training and personalized service will set it apart. Operating from the owner’s property will allow for competitive pricing and a strong emphasis on supporting local players. Connections from college and international experiences will provide additional expertise, further enhancing the Academy's offerings.

  • Business Plan

My plan is to be a volleyball performance practice center open to any club players who want to become experts in their position. I will offer volleyball sessions adjusted per group of age and skills every day of the week after school between 5-9 pm. I will build a solid relationship with my players and advertise my service through them as we are located in a small town as well as online and directly through flyers and shirts. As I work at a local Elementary school, I will use this to my advantage by promoting my services directly to students and staff. I eventually plan on opening my own club with players that I directly coach myself. By doing so, I intend to deliver to my players, strong core values of the sport of volleyball and the real essence of what good sportsmanship is about. My goal is to have 2 local and travel teams by the beginning of the 2023 volleyball season. As an ex-collegial athlete, I will use my knowledge of the college environment to offer recruitment opportunities to the local schools. I am seeking grant funding to be able to start as a small local business entrepreneur. My desire is to share my passion for volleyball and invest in my small-town community. I believe in promoting more feminine sport and empowering girls as future active members of society. Too often girls in my town feel defeated by new challenges because of the lack of opportunities they are giving. I would like to create a safe and inspiring environment for all girls to feel confident and powerful through the practice of volleyball.

  • Self Identified Competition

As my business is intended to be formed as a training center, I do not fear the local volleyball club situated 45 minutes away from my location. However, the YMCA situated 35 minutes away does offer private training sessions which could represent competition to my services. Finally, although the local sports association of my town doesn't offer volleyball, they do offer other sports that could represent a competitor. As I intended to run the business from my personal property and use it as a side hustle for at least a year, I will offer more attractive prices than my competitors. Besides, I wish to promote and prioritize local players. Finally, I will use my collegial and international connections to offer expertise in terms of volleyball performances.
