Callies Gifts is applying for a government grant to support the expansion of their business. The funding will be used primarily for advertising efforts, including utilizing coupons and discounts, as well as promoting products on social media to attract more customers and reach international markets.
The business owner, a 65-year-old African American woman and first-generation business owner, shares a personal story of resilience. Growing up with parents who were sharecroppers instilled in her a strong work ethic and the motivation to improve her family's quality of life. She views owning her business as both a rewarding challenge and a means to serve her clients' retail needs, especially during tough times like the pandemic, where shopping provided a mental escape for many.
Callies Gifts stands out in the market due to its personalized one-on-one customer service, allowing for a hands-on approach in operations and merchandise selection. The owner expresses a deep satisfaction from being actively involved in every aspect of the business, reinforcing her commitment to create and grow something meaningful for herself and her community. The grant would enable her to increase inventory and offer more products, ultimately benefitting her customers and the business's growth.

Business Plan
I want to expand my business by advertising my products with coupons and discounts to drive customers to my website and advertise on social media . I am a 65 year olds, African American woman and a first generator business owner, who grew up with parents that were sharecroppers. I watched my parents work hard to make ends meet and vowed to do whatever I could to improve my quality of life for my children and grandchildren. Owning my own business is exciting and hard work, but worth it. I enjoy serving people by meeting their retail therapy needs. During the pandemic, so many people had to find ways to balance being stuck in the house. My company was a mental outlet for people to shop and escape their current situation. This grant will allow me the opportunity to increase my inventory and provide more items to my customers.
