  • Business Plan

As you may be aware, the demand for persons to fill roles with diversity, equity, and inclusion functions has skyrocketed this year. I have over 30 years of experience in supplier diversity and inclusion background to include owning a consulting business. I began this career with passion in 1990 as the Minority Business Program Administrator for the Ohio State University with a former background in HR administration. Over the years I acquired experience in various industries including retail, manufacturing, finance, healthcare as well as in the city/state/county government sectors. I was the initial incumbent to start supplier diversity programs at The Ohio State University, Macy's Inc. (to include their 9 store divisions), and most recently at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. During my previous role as a consultant, I helped over 30 organizations to establish supplier diversity programs or enhance their processes. I am also a former President of the NMSDC - South Central Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council and the WBENC - Ohio River Valley - Women's Business Council. I hold Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Business Administration with majors in Business Management and HR Management respectively. So I bring non-profit knowledge and experience to clients. When I worked as a consultant from 1998 - 2008 my business grew through industry knowledge, persistent hard work, superior performance, strategic partnerships, and word of mouth. Most importantly, because of my known passion to help small, minority, women, and disadvantaged businesses. During the first couple of years, I would work using the customized model approach to consulting. This is where I use a made-to-order approach specific to the needs of the client. Working solo as the primary lead and using independent contractors to augment needs per project instead of managing staff daily is time efficient and allows for a higher profit. margin. By the third year, I will have developed proven systems and processes that can be transformed into products, i.e., information products, surveys, training courses, programs, books that can be sold to clients. This approach is a proven method to scale your consulting business as your income isn’t directly related to your time spent billing. I can take my enhanced knowledge and create a valuable asset that can be sold and doesn’t require my day-to-day involvement to operate. Finally, I will reinvest 35% of my profit back into my business by integrating technology to automate as many components or service offerings as possible. This would include proposals, presentations, training, and reporting. I will reinvest 5% of my profit into personal growth & development. As a consultant, I partner with organizations to develop and lead processes to engage diverse firms in ways that promote business opportunities, job creation, workforce utilization, and sustainable economic outcomes. We are facing a period of time overrun with social, economic, and racial issues that require effective and strong leadership to affect positive change. I bring a reputation and proven track record of having worked with over 35 organizations during my tenure in this field, not only meeting but exceeding every goal for diversity & inclusion.

  • Self Identified Competition

I am not aware of any competitors that do exactly what I do in this region. After studying the market, I have carved out a niche area for me wherein I will primarily focus on projects that could use a small and minority business inclusion consultant on large capital improvement or construction projects. There is no black female-owned business in this niche arena and I have almost ten years of direct experience and success performing this work. My passion for this line of work makes me different from other consultants in the general D&I space. I have learned how to excel at working with organizations' senior leadership, business leaders, and their respective operations to advance business strategies around economic inclusion and diverse procurement other general functions. I pride myself on being a strong thought leader and an influencer. I strive to work with purpose and compassion and always with respect. I believe in my work and the good that comes from it and I am never tired.
