Sentinel Home Health Care Sentinel Home Health Care | Government Grant Application

Sentinel Home Health Care | Application Preview

Sentinel Home Health Care is applying for government grants to enhance its services and expand its operations. The funding will be allocated for payroll, equipment, and software upgrades to support full-time nurses, physical, and occupational therapists, as well as to provide medical and work benefits for employees.

The business aims to diversify its offerings by venturing into hospice care and non-medical transportation for the elderly and disabled. Currently, Sentinel collaborates with local hospitals, private insurance companies, the Veterans Administration, and private physicians. Over the next five years, the plan is to open 2 to 4 additional locations across North and South Carolina and expand its workforce to include more therapists, social workers, and nurses.

The demand for home health care is on the rise, driven by the need for elderly and disabled individuals to age in place safely. Hospitals and physicians rely on home health agencies like Sentinel to care for patients who cannot leave their homes due to various health issues. The agency has a passion for its work and believes it possesses the necessary expertise and qualified caregivers to grow in its communities.

In terms of competition, Sentinel faces larger agencies such as Kindred at Home, Bayada, and Brookdale, which often prioritize patients based on higher reimbursement rates. This practice leaves many patients, particularly those reliant on Medicaid, VA benefits, and other private insurance without care. Sentinel distinguishes itself by serving often-overlooked populations, such as veterans, making them a valuable resource for local hospitals.

Despite the established competitors, Sentinel believes that the growing demand for home health care presents an opportunity for expansion. Many individuals prefer to receive care in their homes rather than in crowded nursing facilities that may lack personal attention. By addressing the needs of families who want to avoid nursing home placement, Sentinel positions itself as a compassionate alternative for elder care.

  • Business Plan

Our plan is to expand into Hospice care and Non-Medical transportation for the elderly and disabled. We currently contract with local Hospitals, Private Insurance, Veterans Administration and private Physicians.. Our plan is to add additional divisions of Therapists, Social Workers and Nurses to our agency. Over the next 5 years we plan to opened 2 - 4 additional locations throughout both North and South Carolina. The need for Home Health Care is great and that need is increasing by the day. There is an enormous need for care in the elderly and disabled population. In order for the elderly and the baby boomers to age in place within the safety of their homes, Hospitals and Physicians depend on Home Health Agencies like ours to provide in home care for patients unable to leave their homes due to decreased immune systems, open wounds, physical debilitation and the need for transportation. We love what we do and we have the experience, expertise and qualified care givers to grow in our city and surrounding areas.

  • Self Identified Competition

Kindred at Home, Bayada and Brookdale are three of the largest agencies in the area. Larger agencies are able to selectively choose the patients they service. Their decisions are based upon the reimbursement rates they receive from Medicare and Private insurances. Their focus is upon the higher payment source. This buisness model leave a large population of patient without care to include Medicaid, VA and Private Insurance patients. Our target population has been the group of patients that are often overlooked by the larger competitors. For example our competitors often overlook or refuse to provide care to the Veteran population, however the VA is our largest referral source. We choose to service everyone without discriminating against patients with the unpopular payer source, and we have become a good resource for hospitals. Our competitors have been around a long time and have plenty of investors already, but they cannot handle the demand of patient care alone. Additional Home Health agencies are needed to meet the demand of the growing need of home health care. A lot people desire to age in their homes without going to over priced and over crowed nursing homes that lack the personal care and compassion that we are able to provide. Statistics show that people prefer to age in place within their homes, while requiring additional help for caregiver. Caregivers are unable to care for their parents while being forced to send their loved ones to nursing homes against their will. We are the evolving option for the elderly and our referral sources for the next level of care.
