PAYSTE 18820709 | Government Grant Application

PAYSTE | Application Preview

PAYSTE is seeking government grants to expand its fashion business, which has been built on creativity and resourcefulness. The founder, a single mother and former nurse, has utilized household fabrics to create a small e-commerce website. The funding will be directed toward marketing initiatives, including creating promotional reels and trademarking the brand, which reflects the owner’s unique backstory as a refugee from Peru.

With a background in fashion and design education, the founder aims to increase revenue for the online store and eventually open a physical location in Cleveland. The narrative of PAYSTE is deeply personal, encompassing themes of resilience and ownership over her story, particularly as it relates to her past experiences with her family's struggles in Peru.

The founder emphasizes her commitment to long-term growth and innovation, believing that her journey provides a competitive edge, making her brand distinct in the market. While she noted one major competitor, AKIRA in Chicago, she believes her approach and narrative differentiate her business from others in the industry. Overall, PAYSTE's vision combines personal history with a strong desire to succeed in the fashion world.

  • Funding Usage

I have build my business on creativity, in hand/house resources thus far. Utilizing fabrics around the house to slowly progress. I now own and operate a (small) revenue making website that I would use the funding to grow and develop to eventually turn into a brick and morter in Cleveland, Ohio and eventually expand. I have been successful thus far and for that I am grateful. I can count in one hand the number of nights I slept in March but that's what was necessary for that season of my business. I am a single mother who was a nurse during the pandemic and almost lost my mind. I am not a stranger to hard work and dedication. I have also saved up and payed cash for fashion and design school; Parsons. I can only afford one of their certificate programs due to balance of resources. I am currently learning about editorial marketing and utilizing everything I am learning towards my business. About 1,500 The funding would directly go towards promotion and marketing with a reel for the branding of my company. videography work to share my brands story. I would also use the funding to TRADEMARK my brand. My brand is based on my experiences as a refugee child from Peru. Seeking refuge to America at the age of 9 due to my parents being in the Peruvian FBI in the 80's at the height of terrorism due to cocaine in Peru , my father burned down a coke lab in the peruvian jungle that was linked to the government and he had to find refuge due to the mislabeling as "enemy of the state" when he was only fighting terrorism. Bringing it back to current times where my brand by the name of PAYSTE is a play on how I took ownership of my narrative and how America is the land of the free and brave I decided to own PAYSTE and make it my own. I would love to further explain the focus of my business if possible.

  • Business Plan

I have started fashion and design school with an emphasis on marketing. I would like to increase revenue for my E-commerce store and God willing open a brick and morter and expand. I have shown nothing but improvements and growth since the beginning of my company back in February. I am in it for the long haul and would love to show investors some of my ideas.

  • Self Identified Competition

As a self retired nurse. I did not go to fashion and design school so automatically I came into my field at a disadvantage. While I study fashion and design to create my OWN line for mass production I still have my responsibilities as a mother to feed my son and pay my bills. This forced me to get creative with a website and selling my inventory in creative way's with social media and vents in different cities. With no ego in sight I say I do not have a competitor because of the way I came into the field and where I am simultaneously working to get. The only "competitor" would be a company called AKIRA from Chicago but again, I want to continue my brand with a more private label when I patent and mass produce my own designs
