Maria Home Health Services, Inc | Application Preview
Maria Home Health Services, Inc. is seeking government grants to enhance its operations by transitioning to an electronic patient record system. The shift from paper to digital records has slowed down certification and billing processes, significantly impacted by financial strains related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization has struggled to pay employees on time, provide protective gear, and supply necessary safety items for elderly patients who rely on home care and often prefer to avoid in-home visits from staff during the pandemic. Additionally, the company aims to implement a telehealth system to better serve patients who are hesitant to have caregivers enter their homes.
With over a decade of experience providing quality care, Maria Home Health Services has identified an opportunity to expand its offerings to tourists in Orlando, specifically by providing in-hotel care for children and elderly parents when families go out. Currently serving four counties, the company aims to extend its reach into two additional counties, including Tampa.
The need for home healthcare is expected to rise, especially as families return to work post-pandemic, reinforcing the relevance of their services. Maria Home Health Services has remained stable and reliable throughout its operation and holds a commitment to community service and employment stability.
In terms of competition, other local home health providers include American Pride, Triology Home Health Care, and A Place at Home. Maria Home Health Services sets itself apart with its long-standing presence, bilingual staff catering to the Hispanic community, strong relationships with hospitals for referrals, and a reputation for exceptional patient care. The organization emphasizes its commitment to employee growth, as many staff members advance their careers while continuing to refer patients to the service.

Funding Usage
Transition of patient records to electronic based format, Importing of paper based records to digital format caused delay in verification of records received for new certification episodes. Staff training and implementation has slowed down the usual billing process. Due to the pandemic and changes in the government payout for Medicare and home health agencies, we have had a hard time to recover financially. It is becoming harder to pay our employees on time, provide them with PPE and give our patients the necessary safety supplies that they requires. Our patients are elderly who do not leave their homes and especially in these times of COVID. We have be unable to properly install a telehealth system to provide our patients in order to better ensure there safety. Especially since there are those who do not want any nurse or aides coming into their homes. We have not been able to keep up with demand of new patients needing home health services due to lack of funds. We have been in business for more than 10 years and have provided such excellent service to our patients and community.

Business Plan
Orlando is known for being a tourist spot and so we want to expand to where we can provide services in hotels. When parents want to go out exploring but can not take their children or elderly parent with them we have this innovative idea where we can provide services to them in the hotel, a nurse or home health aide can come in and care for the patient whether child or elderly. We currently service four counties but want to expand further into 2 more counties including Tampa. COVID-19 pandemic increased the demand for home care. Even before the pandemic, according to the US Department of Health and Human Services, a majority of the population ages 65 and older (70 percent) could need up to four years of care, while 20 percent will need more than five years. Although the onset of the pandemic meant that some families relied on family care due to fear of home health aides coming into the home (and often temporary work stoppages for working-age family members), as family members go back to paid work, the need for home healthcare will increase. As stated previously we have been in business for over 10 years because we have been stable and reliable, what happened last year was an unprecedent event that affected us all and disrupted our finances. We are a company that believes in giving back to the community and doing good. Such investment can create/stabilize employment. Home healthcare workers are necessary to the functioning of the economy and society. Home-based care workers assist individuals in their homes with medical and daily living tasks, providing essential care for the individuals while enabling other family members to engage in paid employment.

American pride, Triology home health care, A place at home. These are home health cares near to our area of service. We have been in business for more than 10 years and never stopped servicing our patients despite going through the pandemic. We also have a strong presence in the Hispanic community. We have staff that are bilingual and trilingual. Our company receives referrals from hospital/medical centers. We establish long lasting relationships with our patients and families. We also go the extra mile to make sure our patients are safe and comfortable. A lot of our employees and nurses have gone off to continue their education and become ARNPS/Doctors and due to their pleasant time working with us, they refer their patients to our services.
