Rise and Shine Living, LLC 580918 | Government Grant Application

Rise and Shine Living, LLC | Application Preview

Rise and Shine Living, LLC is applying for government grants to support its mission of promoting healthy aging through yoga and mindfulness. The funds will primarily be allocated for marketing, insurance, education, and equipment.

The business plan targets community organizations, schools, nursing facilities, retirement communities, and individuals. The focus is on postural alignment, muscular and bone strength, balance, and breath awareness, all aimed at enhancing health at any age.

The founder, nearly 64, has a rich background in yoga practice dating back to age 22, and has transitioned from coaching soccer and working as a home health aide to teaching yoga. She obtained her Integrative Yoga Therapy certification in 2017 and has built a strong reputation locally, having taught at the Sunrise Sunset Activity Center and privately since then.

A personal motivation driving her is her mother's dementia and a desire for more flexibility in her schedule to support family needs. Despite her age, she feels passionate about teaching and has noticed remarkable changes in her students' health.

The founder is pursuing further education in Subtle Yoga with a focus on neuroplasticity, which has gained positive feedback. She views New Hampshire, known for its aging population, as a unique opportunity for her business. While she is aware of some competition, she believes her offering is distinct from traditional yoga practices and highlights her competitive edge based on her experience and specialized training.

My hope is community/recreation depts., schools, nursing, retirement community, and individuals will value my overall approach to mindfulness relating to postural alignment, muscular and bone strength, balance, and breath awarenesses all for healthy aging no matter the age. I am nearly 64 years young. I have practiced yoga since age 22 with stops and starts while raising children. I was a girls middle school soccer coach for 6 years before starting my home health aid business together with a good friend. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2016 and retired in 2017. I carried on while beginning to rethink my career path forward. I sought and completed my Integrative Yoga Therapy, Yoga Teacher training certification in December 2017. I did my internship at the Sunrise Sunset Activity Center that October and have been teaching their and privately since (with exception to the CoVid quarantine). I have a good reputation within my local community. I no longer want to continue as a Home Health Aide. My father died suddenly in 2018. My mother (in Ct) is living independently, but has dementia. I want to have more flexibility to visit her more as that need becomes more apparent. I am not ready to retire! I love teaching and helping people age healthily at best. I've seen amazing results. I am currently seeking my Subtle Yoga certification which is another approach to yoga for Neuroplasticity. This has been very well received by my practitioners. NH is an aging state. I'm very fortunate to be where I am with this vision, my experience, and my good health.

  • Self Identified Competition

I don't know of any. Most yoga these days is not what I am offering. Explained above
