Happy Cooking Cards | Application Preview
Happy Cooking Cards is seeking government grants to fund marketing efforts that will help launch their business. Within the next five years, the goal is to build an online subscriber base of over 10,000 customers and establish wholesale partnerships with more than 1,000 grocery chains and stores nationwide.
The rationale for approving this funding centers on the innovative and profitable nature of the product line, which includes unique recipe cards presented as greeting cards. The owner believes that with the right financial support for marketing and promotion, the business can thrive and potentially reach every household in America. The organic growth of the customer base is expected once initial traction is gained, as the product has the potential to go viral.
In terms of competition, Happy Cooking Cards faces established players like Rifle Paper Company and Hallmark, both of which dominate the greeting card market. Additionally, companies like Hello Fresh offer meal kits that include recipe cards, which creates further competition for consumer attention.
What sets Happy Cooking Cards apart is its unique product offering—a detachable-cover greeting card that doubles as a recipe card, which is unlike anything else on the market. The owner is also the artist behind the designs, providing an artistic and personal touch that competitors lack. This distinctiveness caters to both cooking enthusiasts and art lovers, broadening the potential customer base. The funding will enable greater investment in product development and visibility, ultimately enhancing the business's competitive position.

Business Plan
In the next five years, I will grow an online subscriber base of 10,000 + customers and expand wholesale partnerships into 1000+ national stores including grocery chains. I have an extremely creative, unique, and profitable idea that just needs money to get in front of the right people. I have an amazing range of products that have the potential to reach every household in America, and the only obstacle I face is startup costs in terms of marketing and promotion. Once I achieve a customer base, it will grow exponentially because my product has potential to go viral. Plus I have developed every aspect of my business myself while making art and designing all of my products, testing recipes, etc. and the extra money would allow me to invest more in my products and get seen by more people.

Self Identified Competition
1. Rifle paper company - they are the top greeting card company in the world and manufacture recipe cards. They outsource to Asia and have low costs as well as a huge customer base and social media presence. 2. Hallmark - has secured a large sector of the grocery store market and produces all of their cards in-house for extremely cheap. A lot of people are drawn to them based on convenience and low-cost. 3. Hello Fresh (and other subscription meal kits) - My subscription based service on my website allows customers to select a monthly recipe card + print (or 2, 3) to make a dinner party at home. I encourage potential buyers to focus on the joy of cooking and buying ingredients rather than receiving frozen ingredients to their doorstep. They are my competitor because they've capitalized on the market of convenient meals and have a gigantic customer base. They include recipe cards in their boxes. I am the only detachable-cover greeting card on the market, in the world. I am also the only greeting card company that includes recipes not the inside of the card. In addition to that, I am the artist and one of the only greeting card companies in general that includes prints of fine art on the covers rather than computer generated renderings. My products are also highly collectible, sharable, and the only greeting card that is both a card and a gift (like a mini-cookbook). They are perfect for artists, home-cooks, chef, aspiring chefs, young people, older people, and men and women. I also am the only maker of a recipe card that develops and tests their own recipes. I also sell art prints in addition to cards which allows me to spread my customer base beyond cooks to a more art-focused market.
