Bailey Farms LLC 86-3501135 | Government Grant Application

Bailey Farms LLC | Application Preview

Bailey Farms LLC is seeking government grants to support the development of its agricultural infrastructure. The funding will be used for several key improvements, including repairing a partial fence, demolishing two non-functional sheds, constructing a barn, purchasing essential farm equipment (like a livestock trailer), and acquiring a few sheep and cows to kickstart a breeding program.

The business plan aims for Bailey Farms to become a fully operational farm over the next five years, focusing on raising grass-fed cattle and sheep for sale in the Hamilton County area.

The motivation behind this funding request is rooted in deep community ties. The owner’s family has lived in Arcadia, Indiana, for over three years, with five children attending local schools. They are committed to restoring their historic farmhouse and fostering a lasting presence in the community. The vision extends to teaching future generations about farming, creating a legacy in the area.

In terms of competition, Bailey Farms is aware of Sheller Farms as a nearby cattle seller. However, the owner believes their fresh perspective as newcomers to farming can offer unique opportunities, including job creation for local residents and educational initiatives for youth interested in agriculture.

  • Funding Usage

This request is to help build our infrastructure. We need to fix a partial fence, tear down two sheds that are not functionable to house animals or equipment, build a barn, buy some farm equipment (such as a trailer to haul livestock), and buy a couple of sheep and cows to start breeding.

  • Business Plan

Over the next five years I would like to become a fully operational farm that raises grass fed cattle and sheep to be sold locally in the Hamilton County area. My family and I moved to Arcadia, Indiana about three and half years ago. I have five children, ages 11 down to 6. We are very invested in our community, my children go to Hamilton Heights School Corporation, we recently bought an old farm house that was build in 1862 which we have been slowly remodeling and would like to restore to its original beauty. Arcadia is our home, the community is our home, with no intent of ever leaving this wonderful area. My dream is to see my children have grandchildren here and to watch them grow and teach them all about farming and passing that down generation to generation.

  • Self Identified Competition

I'm only aware of one close competitor to our location that sells cattle and that is Sheller Farms. Unlike my competitor, we are new to farming. While that does present some challenges in learning the ropes and understanding the environment, being new can also bring fresh ideas, as we grow we would bring new jobs to the area (e.g. farm hands), and teach farming to the youth of the area!
