Artistic Adventures 1033-6507-ST | Government Grant Application

Artistic Adventures | Application Preview

Artistic Adventures is seeking government grants to support its growth and stability during the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding will be used to purchase supplies for art classes and to establish a website for selling merchandise, art kits, and online classes, enabling the business to generate income and support the owner during these challenging times.

The business owner envisions a thriving enterprise in the next five years, with aspirations to create a family legacy and establish a storefront with a team of at least five employees. As a woman-owned sole proprietorship, the owner’s passion for art and determination to succeed is a key reason to approve the funding. The joy of teaching art classes to children in local schools has reinforced her commitment to the community, highlighting a desire to inspire creativity even amidst difficulties.

While facing competition from established local art studios, Artistic Adventures stands out by offering mobile services and accessibility for individuals with disabilities. The owner provides personalized, hands-on instruction, ensuring that everyone feels supported in their creative journeys. The unique approach and positive feedback from clients affirm that Artistic Adventures is making a significant impact, motivating the owner to continue pursuing her dream even through current hardships.

  • Funding Usage

I would be able to stock up on supplies for when this virus is gone so I can hit the ground running with booking of parties. I would also use it to setup a website where I could sell merchandise, classes, and art kits for people to do at home during this quarantine time with their families. This would also help for an income for myself and help pay for our mortgage since my art studio area is in our home.

  • Business Plan

In the next 5 years I would love to see the business prosper and flourish. I would love to have this be our family’s stable income for 20+ years and hand it down to my children. I would love to be able to have a store front and have a staff of at least 5 employees to help me make this successful for all customers. I believe investors should invest in me and Artistic Adventures because I am a sole proprietor business that is woman owned. I am strong-willed and determined to make this business work because it isn't just a job to me but a passion. I have been welcomed into schools in Rapid City, SD and Box Elder, SD to teach art classes. The moment you see a child's face light up and that little mustard seed is planted is work all the stress, worries, and financial hardship. To see people in my classes that say they can't even draw a stick figure and at the end of the class they are inspired and moved by art is a huge uplifting satisfaction in my heart. If we can make it through this hardship of COVID-19 I would be able to inspire so many more people. Until then, I would be able to use this money to get more supplies on hand and also get home art kits made for families in Western South Dakota.

  • Self Identified Competition

Canvas 2 Paint, Pottery 2 Paint, and Dahl Arts Center- All three of my competitors have acrylic canvas classes. The only thing is that I travel to people's homes and businesses and they do not. I think not having a store front also hurts me a little bit, but I work closely with Prouty Pottery and also Zymurcracy Beer Company to use space for classes. Also, my competitors have been established in Rapid City, SD for 10-15-20+ years so it is hard to get my name out there at times. Since I am a traveling art studio and use facilities that are handicap accessible, I can reach a lot of the population that isn't able to make it to my competitors for art inspired classes. Also, since I travel to people's homes and businesses, I do work parties, team building, birthday parties of all ages and inspire more people with my teaching methods and abilities. My classes and paintings are fun art and not fine art. I take people step by step through paintings and I don't leave anyone behind that are struggling or need my hands-on assistance. My goal is to inspire those who think they can't paint or be creative to open that creative side of themselves again. When people leave my class and tell me how they love my hands on one-on-one time and how funny, silly, outgoing, and all around amazing instructor and how Artistic Adventures is so different from other places aka my competitors in Rapid City, SD and Western, SD it makes me feel so good. It reassures me that I am doing something right and need to continue with this dream.
