Nutmeg Performing Arts Center 0010083406 | Government Grant Application

Nutmeg Performing Arts Center | Application Preview

Nutmeg Performing Arts Center is seeking government funding to transition the business following an asset sale. The plan involves significantly increasing the student population through extensive advertising, hiring skilled teachers and choreographers, and enhancing expertise in both dance and business management.

The owner has deep roots in the local community, having been active in the dance scene for 23 years. This familiarity and reputation will help the business thrive under her leadership. The primary competitors include The Dance Project, Dance Arts Center, and The Dance Experience, all established studios with strong local recognition.

Nutmeg's competitive advantage lies in its 22-year history as a family-oriented dance studio. The owner aims to uphold this legacy while fostering a safe, inclusive environment. She views the studio as her second home and aspires to create a supportive community that encourages students in their dance education. The goal is to position Nutmeg as a prominent, positive force in the local arts landscape.

  • Business Plan

I plan to increase the student population significantly by advertising tremendously, adding to the staff with professional teachers and choreographers, and expand my knowledge in dance as well as business management. I am a native to the town my business is located. I have been involved in the dance community for 23 years and have been involved in the Bristol community tremendously as well. I am a teacher and well known, and feel as though the business will grow knowing a young woman will be taking over a well known business in town.

  • Self Identified Competition

The three top competitors are The Dance Project, originally located in Terryville, CT, but recently moved to Barlow St. in Bristol. They are a new dance studio, and also well known in the dance community. Another competitor is Dance Arts Center, which is located off of Pine St. in Forestville, CT. Dance Arts Center has been in business longer than Nutmeg, and has wonderful teachers and a great founder who is a significant asset to the community. The last competitor is The Dance Experience. They are located around the corner from our studio, and have a well-known name in town. The owner has been in business for a very long time as well. Nutmeg Performing Arts Center has been a wonderful family oriented dance studio for 22 years. I intend to continue the legacy going into year 23 with that and create a safe and inviting community for dancers to continue their dance education, learning from highly educated teachers and choreographers. I have never left Nutmeg Performing Arts Center, and have always called it my second home. I hope our students feel that same way. It is very rare that someone comes full circle the way that I have, and I intend to create a community centered, family oriented, accepting of all, successful business, and positive asset to our town.
