  • Funding Usage

With the funding the grant will provide, it will allow the company to expand it's marketing capability and pay for necessary upgrades, equipment, day-to-day operations and labor. It will also allow us to publish the works of more inmates who cannot afford the upfront cost. We will be able to expand our Phoenix Rising program for specially selected inmates. Based on the work we've done so far, fellow inmates of our published author have been compelled to write as a form of therapy and a chance to have an accomplishment such as this.

  • Business Plan

I am working on growing my business currently by expanding into international territories and developing a brand presence. I will be publishing books from one country I have penetrated already this year. I plan to continue to grow that brand presence as well as expand to other things such as magazines, club formations, and book events. It is also in the works to add some children's books to our repertoire and eventually use that avenue to influence reading amongst the youth by hosting different events. Investors should invest in my company because we are doing our best to play a part in prison reform for the incarcerated. One of our authors was inspired to write a proposal to their warden to ask for a social media program, which was granted. This program would highlight more of the reformation that is possible in some facilities when a suitable outlet is supplied. This same inmate is also working with producers to get a movie produced based on one of their books. Since, conception, we have had more and more inmates interested in publishing their work just to feel a state of accomplishment and boost their morale in what can sometimes be a dark place. In order to accommodate them, we would definitely need and appreciate the funding necessary to do the work and effectively promote their work.

  • Self Identified Competition

Our top 3 competitors in the self-publishing realm, I would say are most of the self-publishing companies with bigger budgets such as Outskirts Press. Outside of big budget publishing, and if I had to narrow it down to the genre we have published the most, I would say the top two are Wahida Clark Publishing due to the owner being a best seller multiple times and her familiarity with the incarcerated population. Carl Weber is the third. He not only publishes but has turned a few of his books into movies. However, it is our goal to publish in many genres and we will be venturing into that this year. What makes us different is the push to not just gain notoriety or make money but to allow people to have a voice and with this opportunity help them evolve.
