Ott Farms 416082731 | Government Grant Application

Ott Farms | Application Preview

Ott Farms is seeking government grants to fund business expansion through the purchase of additional equipment and the hiring of more staff. The owner emphasizes the need for enhanced support for local farmers in rural Alabama, where there is a shortage of assistance. With a lifelong commitment to agriculture, the applicant aims to address the dwindling interest from younger generations in maintaining farmland and believes it is crucial to support those in need.

In terms of competition, Ott Farms identifies three main competitors: local co-ops, Tyler McClaney, and Justyn Myles. The co-ops are stretched thin due to the vast area they cover and often lack an applicator on staff. Tyler McClaney is also facing challenges as demand exceeds his capacity, while Justyn Myles employs just one additional worker.

What sets Ott Farms apart is a genuine commitment to the well-being of farmers and their crops, rather than a focus solely on profit. This dedication is presented as a key reason for the funding approval, as it reflects a mission to serve the community effectively.

  • Business Plan

Living in a rural area of Alabama there are limited people to help the local farmers. I would like to be able to have more equipment and employees to have the ability to answer the call I have received in my life. I have been involved in agriculture all my life and truly consider it my life's calling. In this area the farmers are getting older and the newer generation are not looking out for the farmland. I believe it is our responsibility to help those that are not able to get that help from anyone else.

  • Self Identified Competition

My top 3 competitors are the area Co-ops, Tyler McClaney and Justyn Myles. The co-ops are stretched so thin having such a large area to cover or they do not have an applicator on staff. Tyler McClaney, like myself, has more customers than he is able to get to and Justyn Myles has hired on with one individual. I truly care about the farmer and the crop that I am taking care of each and every time. I am not out just to make a dollar off someone.
