Gier Family Fitness | Application Preview
Gier Family Fitness is seeking government grants to expand their home-based personal training business, which they started during the COVID-19 pandemic. They aim to use the funds to acquire a larger commercial space and purchase additional fitness equipment, allowing them to hire more trainers and improve services. The couple, both personal trainers, has experienced significant financial strain due to high commission rates at traditional gyms, where nearly half of their earnings went to the gym owners. They plan to take a modest 25% commission from their trainers to offer better incentives and support their employees.
The couple highlights their unique journey, having built their business from scratch while raising three young children. They describe their growth as a result of hard work and perseverance, and they emphasize their commitment to positively impacting the community by making fitness more accessible. Competing against larger gyms and fitness centers, Gier Family Fitness aims to distinguish itself by providing exceptional client and employee experiences, treating everyone like family, and focusing on community rather than profit-driven motives. They believe that, with additional funding, they can enhance their operations, avoid financial instability, and inspire others in the local area.

Funding Usage
We recently saved to build a small in home gym in our garage, and started a small local business. We were inspired to do this through the struggle of the global coronavirus pandemic. We took a huge leap and a huge risk to open this business and depend solely on our business' growth and income to pay our bills. My fiance and I are both personal trainers and train people out of our home. We were tired of getting almost half of our income and commission taken because the gym decided to take 48% of earnings from each session. We would use this money to grow our business, we would love to build or buy a bigger building (nothing too big or too fancy) and also buy more equipment for the area so that we can hire more trainers to work for us. We would love to do this because we want to help other trainers who work hard for their money and get almost half of their earnings taken. Our plan is to only take 25% and that is only so that we can give them incentives that the big gyms don't give. We would use every bit of money that we receive from grants to GROW, and to help other local personal trainers grow. We would love to buy more equipment, get a bigger building, and show other families that even someone with a busy household with three small children can grow a business. We want to inspire people not only when it comes to fitness but when it comes to business and life as well! To wrap it up, what we would use the funds for would be to GROW. To build or buy a bigger building and buy more equipment. We have built this from the ground up ourselves and would love to have a little bit of help to continue to grow and make this all worth while for us! Thank you for your time!

Business Plan
With the proper funding or saving we plan to hire employees and therefore have more people pay for services. In order to hire employees we would need to buy or build a commercial property. We have limited space where we are at because it is based out of our home. We are already fairly successful doing this out of our home and know what we are doing when it comes to the business and financial side of things so I have no doubt in my mind that when we are able to have a bigger space we will be able to grow. We know lots of personal trainers that are local and we know what we are competing with when it comes to other people that hire personal trainers. My fiance was a personal trainer for a gym near us and they took about 48% of his earnings. We will only take 25% as we are going to only be a personal training studio, we don't need to take much from our employees. We have done the math and 25% from each full time trainer is more than enough to keep us above where we need to be and we would still be able to give some sort of incentives to our employees (something that most gyms do not do with what we have experienced working for one). We are unique. We are unique because we started from nothing. Not only did we start with nothing but we started this business in the middle of the global coronavirus pandemic while also supporting a family. We have 3 small children and still managed to build a gym out of our garage by hard work, dedication, saving, lots of stress, tears, and sacrificing. We saved for a long time for this, we put every last cent that we possibly could to go out on our own for our business. We believe that one day it will pay off. We deserve a helping hand because we have done absolutely everything that we possibly could just to get this started. We took a big risk by depending solely on our business to pay our bills. We never intended to start a business to still live paycheck to paycheck, at this point that is where we are. We are 100% certain that if we could just get a bigger area and more equipment that it would help us grow and change more lives and also not live paycheck to paycheck anymore. The whole point of starting our business was to help others with their health and have a positive impact on our community. We also want to live a life where we are not financially unstable. We want to succeed!!!

Self Identified Competition
The M.A.C is a top competitor, this is a gym that my fiance worked for. They are closer to us and have multiple locations. Planet fitness is a competitor although their personal training rates are higher than ours. Elite fitness is another small gym near by. We are different than our competitors because not only would we treat our clients better because we are local but we would also treat our employees better. We aren't out to get "rich" or become a chain. While the income is nice and that has to be a part of it in order to pay bills, we aren't worried about taking everything from our employees or customers. We have been in the business and we have seen what we don't like about working for people or paying for a service that isn't worth it. We will show customers that paying for our services is well worth it and because we are local and have our own family that we care for, we will treat everyone as family. We are human, and that is what we will always remember no matter how big we grow or how much we make. We are the average family and we will treat everyone equally.
