East Fork Fire Department ky 1046 | Government Grant Application

East Fork Fire Department | Application Preview

The East Fork Fire Department is seeking government grants to replace their current Utility Task Vehicle (UTV). The existing UTV has undergone numerous repairs to maintain safety for both personnel and the community. It plays a crucial role in emergency operations, such as recovering citizens during winter storms and assisting injured individuals in a 7000-acre off-road park within their district. The department aims to acquire a UTV that is safer and better suited for community needs, ensuring enhanced safety for both firefighters and the public.

In terms of funding usage, the fire department relies on tax revenue to support its operations, maintain fire engines, and purchase essential supplies, including fuel, medical supplies, and personal protective equipment. They operate on a limited budget that fluctuates annually and strive to serve a diverse community, which includes vulnerable populations such as the elderly and children.

East Fork Fire Department stands out as they have no competitors, having been established in 1976 as a nonprofit organization. They face unique challenges due to their rural location in Boyd County, Kentucky, with the largest coverage area in the county and fewer businesses contributing to tax revenue. The department believes that securing this grant will significantly enhance their ability to provide timely medical care and support to their community.
