Care Seats of Michigan 861534006 | Government Grant Application

Care Seats of Michigan | Application Preview

Care Seats of Michigan is applying for government grants to support the launch of a new venture focused on child passenger safety. The funding will be used to lease a small retail space, purchase a branded delivery vehicle, and acquire an inventory of child restraints for sale.

The business aims to expand its services throughout Washtenaw County, forging partnerships with local car dealerships, early childhood education centers, homeless shelters, pediatric offices, and family-oriented businesses. The retail location, tentatively named "The Car Seat Safety Station," will serve as a hub for selling child safety products and providing education on their proper use.

The proposal emphasizes the urgent need for improved awareness around car seat safety and the role of Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians, which many families are unaware of. The goal is to simplify the process of selecting and installing car seats, ensuring every child is securely restrained.

While there are a few organizations in the area offering related services, Care Seats of Michigan positions itself uniquely by focusing exclusively on child passenger safety education and resources. With a commitment to parental support and accessibility, the business seeks to revolutionize how the community views child transportation safety.

  • Funding Usage

With this money, I intend to lease a storage or small retail place, purchase a branded vehicle for order deliveries and most importantly purchase an inventory of child restraints for customer sale.

  • Business Plan

I plan on expanding my services to the entirety of Washtenaw County. I intended to make community relationships with local car dealerships, early childhood education centers, homeless shelters, pediatric offices and social assistance programs and businesses that cater to families with children and infants. I intend to lease a retail space to sell my services and child restraints from called ‘The Car Seat Safety Station’ (working name). Eventually I’d like to have a team of certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians available at both the retail location and for request to a place that’s convenient for the customer. Car seat safety is currently completely under the radar for parents and caregivers. No one hardly knows Child Passenger Safety Technicians exists or how to get in touch with us, the the program that exist struggle to meet demand as they’re connected with bigger organizations that have to stretch their resources. Additionally, car seats are difficult. Many parents have no idea how to get their car seat in the car properly or how to ensure that their child is even restrained correctly and safely. My dream is to make this information easily accessible and wide out in the open. I want parents are caregivers to feel supported in their car seat selection and installation, instead of overwhelmed by their options and lack of knowledge. Children have to ride in child restraints all the time, we need to make sure every child is the safest they can be each and every time.

  • Self Identified Competition

I don’t really think I have competition as no one has ventured to do anything quite like how I’m doing this but here are some organizations that do something similar: 1) The Little Seedling, Ann Arbor, Mi They sell high end and generally expensive car seats and car seat checks, and their focus is infant and children clothing. They only have 2 Child Passenger Safety Technicians on staff and if someone needs assistance they have to wait until a day one of them work. 2) Buy Buy Baby/Target/Meijer,etc These chain stores sell a variety of affordable child restraints, but offer no educational or installation assistance. 3) Motts Buckle Up! Program This program is a non-profit associated with C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital(Michigan Medicine). They offer free car seat checks and when resources are available, they offer free car seats to needy families. Resources are frequently unavailable and families have to rely on other aid or even a secondhand child restraint to keep their child safe in a vehicle. I genuinely think it’s imperative that I offer this type of opportunity to our community. I I’m different because my sole focus will be to make the lives of families and caregivers easier by providing education and resources specifically geared to child passenger safety and road safety. Nothing like this exists in our community and I want to change the way we see child safety and transportation.
