Elevated Spaces | Application Preview
Elevated Spaces is applying for government grants to recover from losses due to a fire. The funds will be used primarily for replenishing lost tools, rebuilding infrastructure to restart workshops and build contracts, compensating an engineer to create 2D build plans for improved web store sales, covering shop rent to stabilize cash flow, and funding advertising efforts.
Their business plan is focused on advertising and leveraging social media, particularly with an upcoming book release in 2022 from a major publisher that is expected to enhance their brand visibility. Prior to the fire, Elevated Spaces was successfully hosting workshops, renting their space for events and photoshoots, and providing consulting and design services. The devastation of their tools and infrastructure has disrupted this momentum, but they believe that with the right support, they can recover and monetize their existing relationships and client base.
Over the next five years, they project reaching $200,000 in revenue, publishing a second book, producing video content, expanding their online store, and fostering a loyal clientele for their workshops and consulting services.
Elevated Spaces argues for funding approval by highlighting the societal value they create. Their workshops not only teach hands-on skills but serve as social engagement opportunities for individuals in their 20s to 40s who are seeking connection. They believe that their approach goes beyond just selling products, focusing instead on providing an enriching experience for their customers, ultimately contributing to a better community.
In terms of competition, they recognize a few key players like The Joshua Tree Cabin and RavenHouseCabinCo. However, Elevated Spaces differentiates itself by offering a comprehensive package that includes workshops, consulting, and product sales—something they feel their competitors do not provide. By integrating multiple offerings, they believe they have a competitive edge that positions them uniquely in the market.

Business Plan
Advertising and social media. We have a book coming out in 2022 with a major publisher (Chronicle) which will expand the brand. But we need to stay afloat until then. We were on track with workshops, renting our space out for events and photoshoots, and selling our services as consultants and as designers and builders. The loss of infrastructure and tools from the fires just took a toll on that and we're struggling to stay afloat. Having the runway to rebuild, reacquire, and get back on track will put us back on the path we were and able to actually monetize the relationships and client base we have. In five years we should have 200k in revenue, a second book in print and another on the way, video content, a more robust store both on our website and on etsy ( https://www.etsy.com/shop/ElevatedSpacesShop) selling more designs to a wider audience, and a deep roster of clients who attend regular workshops or seek our expertise on their projects. We're creating value. We're not just building a business and selling a product... we're empowering people to create on their own. Our workshops are social enhancers and there is an allure there from modern folks in their 20s-40s who feel socially disconnected. Our projects and activities are enriching to those who use them and thats a market that's deep. People want to do fun things. They want to learn new skills. They want to create a thing and post about it on social media. We're here to enable all that and to enhance their lives and homes. Basically we're not just selling a product, we're selling a feeling and a skillset. There's money there, but also the makings of a better society.

Self Identified Competition
Sarah and Rich Combs of The Joshua Tree Cabin, who do a lot of design work on cabins and sell a sort of DIY lifestyle brand. But they don't sell plans, they don't sell their own goods, and they don't do workshops. They do have a book though. RavenHouseCabinCo sells cabin plans on Etsy and their site which are most similar to ours. https://www.prairiemountainschool.com/ has a lot of similar workshops. Sarah and Rich have a book and do design work and rent out their space, but they don't do workshops or sell their own goods. We do. RavenhouseCo sells plans and some consulting, but no books, no workshops, no lifestyle, no renting their spaces. Prairie Mountain Folks School does workshops, but no books, no consulting work, no building contracts, no selling of plans or instructional. In short, there are no complete packages other than us. We're offering more than the competition.
