Donna Blow is seeking government grants to support her growing business, which specializes in custom clothing and alterations. The business will primarily focus on high school juniors and seniors in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, specifically targeting custom prom dresses from January to May. Donna Blow is known for quality customer service, ensuring perfect fits and unique designs. • Business Plan

Donna Blow will target high school seniors and juniors from the Dallas/ Ft Worth metroplex from January to May for custom prom dresses. Many girls want an over the top and unique look for prom and search high and low for a local seamstress. We offer quality customer service and perfect fitting designs made with expertise. Consultations are required to design and quote dresses and suits. Each season a projection of at least 25 dresses/suits are expected to be made. Through June and August vacation wear such as bikinis, cover ups, and sets are in high demand. September- December months have a high demand for outerwear and we offer overcoats, fur jackets, puffers and more. Birthday and special event designs are consistent all year long. Donna Blow is one of few dallas seamstresses that offers same day alteration and custom clothing services with great customer service. A beautiful design can be custom made in 1 hour or 1 day starting at $100. We succeed at being able to make mostly anything that a customer desires, and can not find anywhere else. We provide quality fabrics sewn with professional machines for a perfect fit. . Almost all birthday clients come back annually with a 20% discount on a custom birthday design. Donna Blow also works with many influencers such as Dallas native music artists ,Yella Beezy, and Dallas Cowboy, Chris Lacy (just to name a few). This boosts exposure and helps increase sales. With that, social media is a great tool to promote our clothing. Paid Ads on outlets such as, Facebook, Instagram, and Fashion Bomb Daily will help bring in clientele. In addition to using local billboards and news media that will attract more clients. We are also consistent in releasing new creative designs with vibrant colors and attractive patterns. Clients appreciate the hand made clothing and admire the talent it takes to make. Some clients even come back to learn how to sew. By offering sewing classes we have the opportunity to give others a new skill, hobby, stress reliever or money maker. Sewing classes can be taught in studio or online. All products are also cut and sewn in studio. Donna Blow has many interns that are taught to sew and are an essential aide to the business. Many of them, with more time and practice, are potential assistants that will be hired. Hiring seamstresses to manufacture more products will increase sales in store and online. This will also economically promote the community by offering free training and job opportunities. This year, I plan on Donna Blow making $100,000. I plan to have about 85 customers a month with an average sale of $100. I plan for the upcoming prom season to be in full effect and an increase in gatherings and traveling in the warmer months with less fear of covid. Also with a larger space, an upgrade in machines, better resources and more sewing knowledge Donna Blow will expand greatly. Adding 5 or more assistant seamstress/ retail management workers will also help produce more ready to wear items for a better online or in store shopping experience. I have been a teacher for 5 years inspiring children to be creative but, also limiting my own creativeness. During this pandemic, I quite my teaching job to protect my family and maintain a healthy mindset. In 2020 certain sales declined due to decreased traveling, canceled prom and events. However, also during this time our sales sky rocketed with creating hand made face masks. This has also shown that even when we are quarantined in the house, we still online shop. Thousands are online shopping every second. Also, consumers gained more time to focus on new hobbies, like sewing, and take online sewing lessons at DonnaBlow.com. A need for a seamstress is always a demand in any class.

  • Self Identified Competition

My competitors are all men and are successful because they have a team and no longer sew for themselves. They have more time to plan, design and learn with assistant seamstresses. My competitors take designer Louis Vuitton and Gucci scarfs and turn them into collar shirts. Something I can easily do but on a smaller scale. In the long run with a team and bigger location I can be the next women in chArge. What makes Donna Blow stay ahead of competitors is simply the ability to create a look that is beyond unique, made custom to your body, most times in the same day. In addition to, offering online shopping and 2-3 day shipping. We also have frequent sales during holidays and peak seasons and always cater to our clients. Our quick turn around and great shopping experience keeps our customers coming back. We also have a very supportive clientele that brings in so many referrals. Because I know how to sew and have extended background knowledge I have more control on what I can offer to my clients versus not knowing much and having to rely solely on my staff.
