OPAL is a fashion brand aiming to establish its presence in South Florida by offering quality and affordable apparel for adults and children. The company is seeking government grants to fund various aspects of its operations, including the purchase of fabrics, production costs, marketing, and hosting its first fashion show on October 9th in Miami's Wynwood area. The event, which requires a $5,000 security deposit, is intended to showcase OPAL's designs and attract a broader audience.

Founded by Shaley Alvarez, who turned to design as a form of healing after a traumatic experience, OPAL uniquely combines artistic vision with a commitment to diversity and inclusivity in its clothing. The brand aims to differentiate itself from competitors like BLVCK ONYX, RMF, and BOBBY BENZO by focusing on high-quality materials and a distinctive aesthetic inspired by 90's New York streetwear.

In the long run, OPAL plans to expand its operations into retail stores and collaborations with larger brands while maintaining its focus on community engagement and support for families in need. • Business Plan

OPAL’s short-term goal is to bring fashion down south because #FLORIDA NEEDS FASHION! In the long term, we hope to expand into stores and partner with larger brands while keeping our commitment of quality and affordability. OPAL was started by designer Shaley Alvarez as a way to process her emotions after surviving a near-fatal stabbing in March 2020. After literally being brought back to life, Shaley turned to art to cope. She has always been an artist, her father used to take her to buy colored pencils and paper when she was just five years old. The designs she created after the incident were an outlet for her pain, it was a way to heal. She began wearing her designs in public on tee shirts and strangers on the street would complement the work. She began selling her shirts and recently has begun expanding her line to include hats and hoodies. She is currently working on her first fully original collection set to debut on October 9th, 2021.
