Uptown Jerky Co., LLC | Application Preview
Uptown Jerky Co., LLC is seeking government grants to fund its own manufacturing operations. The grant will be used to purchase essential equipment like a commercial smokehouse, automatic meat slicer, freezer, refrigerator, and to lease a kitchen space.
The business aims to grow by expanding its product availability across more stores nationwide and securing distribution deals. Moreover, Uptown Jerky plans to enhance its marketing efforts by participating in local and national events and establishing a storefront at its production site to increase visibility.
The application highlights the lucrative nature of the beef jerky industry, emphasizing the rising popularity of craft gourmet jerky. Since reopening in March, Uptown Jerky has experienced significant demand, selling over 1,000 bags per month just at a single farmers market. With investor support, the company believes it can further expand and develop.
The competition includes larger, established firms like Jerky.com, No Mans Land, and Hard Times, which have significant market presence. Uptown Jerky's competitive edge lies in its craft gourmet approach, with products that are gluten and nitrate-free, offering a unique taste and texture that sets it apart from its competitors, providing a milder flavor that enhances the overall jerky experience.

Business Plan
I plan to continue growing my business by expanding my products presence into more stores nationwide. I plan to get distribution deals that will carry my products into stores. I will continue to market my product by continuing to sell at local and national events. I also plan to have a storefront in the same location where I will be producing my products. In turn, I believe having a storefront location will also help grow my business by giving more visibility. The beef jerky industry is a multimillion dollar industry. Craft gourmet beef jerky is one of the newest and most popular trends in the market. Since things opened back up in March this year, my jerky products have become a local sensation. I sell over 1000 bags per month in one Farmers Market alone. With the help of an investor, I could continue to expand my territory and grow this business substantially.

Self Identified Competition
My top 3 competitors would include Jerky.com, No Mans Land, and Hard Times. Since they all 3 have a larger operation and have been around for many years, they have a strong presence in the market. My product is more of a craft gourmet style of beef jerky. Mine is also gluten/ nitrate free. The taste and texture is completely different from my competitors. Mine is easier to chew and does not have a strong salty flavor, so customers can enjoy more of the flavor versus tasting a lot of salt.
