Orchard Veterinary Care LLC | Application Preview
Orchard Veterinary Care LLC is applying for government grants to support the acquisition of their business and facilitate significant expansion. The funding will help reduce the financial burden of the acquisition, allowing the clinic to invest in larger facilities and hire more staff.
Currently, they operate a small animal boarding service and aim to broaden their services to include other animals. They plan to purchase their current property upon the expiration of a right of first refusal in June 2023, which would enhance their financial stability and enable further expansion, including a proposed large animal treatment facility adjacent to their current location. This initiative aims to provide a cost-effective alternative for families in Ohio, creating jobs and contributing to the local economy.
The clinic stands out due to a combination of experience, community trust, and youthful enthusiasm. The owner, a young entrepreneur, leads a team with deep roots in the local veterinary scene, as many competing practices have been established by former employees. With an increasing pet population in the U.S., the demand for their services is expected to grow.
Their competition includes local clinics offering higher-priced services, online retailers with coupon deals, and national chains that may compromise on quality due to bureaucratic structures. Orchard Veterinary Care differentiates itself by providing exceptional care and a diverse range of services, bolstered by the experience of both the former owner and a passionate, skilled team member specialized in exotic animals. This combination of expertise and community presence positions them uniquely in the veterinary market.

Funding Usage
Funding would primarily be used to pay down the cost of the aquisition of the business. When that is reduced, a major investment in both the size and scope of the facilities and staff is anticipated. The business was able to expand during the COVID-19 health crisis and we are waiting and ready to do more. We simply need to increase our cash flow to facilitate this expansion.

Business Plan
We have currently began operating a small animal boarding business out of our existing facility. We have the staffing and demand to increase this wo other animals but would need substantial liquid assets to achieve this. We are also in the unique position to purchase the property our business is located on when a right of first refusal comes to term in June of 2023. This would create lasting finacial stability for the business and would allow us to expand in other areas. We have considered exploring aquiring the property adjacent to where the current business is and creating a one of a kind large animal treatment facility, rivaling those found at universities and giving a cheaper option to Ohio families that cannot afford the university prices. An undertaking of this nature would ensure an expansion of not just doctors to our tax pool but to ordinary workers who will make a living wage as determined by government standards. We are in the unique position of having an old business with a young owner; the perfect blend of community awareness and trust and youthful enthusiasim and work ethic make us the premier veterinary clinic in Clinton county. Among the other private practices, three of the four in our community were started by doctors who were former employees of our clinic. We are at not only the cutting edge of medicine but of the next big service field, with an increase of the number of pets in the United States having increased by some 30% in the last three years, demand is picking up and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Self Identified Competition
Our primary competitor for services are local clinics that provide costlier procedures at a lower quality, online retailers who can offer coupons we are not able to, and national chains that give the perception of standards but that in actuality add bureaucracy and ultimately cost, to the customers and patients. We offer a level of care not practiced by other clinics. This is exemplified in the procedures we undertake and the range of animals we can treat. This comes from our unique benefit of employing the former owner who built the business from his garage up, and a doctor who is a former member of a number of state advisory agencies on exotic animals. This experience paired with our young, passionate, female doctor create the perfect storm to set us apart.
