Shea Services | Application Preview

Shea Services is seeking government grants to fund the establishment of a cleaning business. The requested funds will be used to acquire essential cleaning supplies such as vacuums, mops, disinfectants, and personal safety items, as well as a printer, laptop, business phone, uniforms, business cards, insurance, and a website.

The business plan focuses on providing cleaning services for homes and small businesses, leveraging referrals and advertising through flyers and an online presence to attract clients. The goal is to expand to 10-15 employees and to operate in neighboring states within three years, eventually servicing areas in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana over five years.

The applicant highlights a personal commitment to create a better life for her children as motivation for seeking funding. As a single mother with a history of overcoming challenges like homelessness and unemployment, she emphasizes her determination for financial independence and stability.

She acknowledges competition from established cleaning services like Clean House Cincinnati, Molly the Maid, and CPR Cleaning but believes her passion sets her apart. Her commitment to providing exceptional service, educating the community on cleaning techniques, and ensuring client satisfaction distinguishes her approach from competitors. Overall, she aims to build a business that values community connection and support.

  • Funding Usage

With the funds requested I would purchase my cleaning supplies needed (vacuum with attachments, floor washing machine, broom with dustpan, mop, buckets, dusters, feet covers, rubber gloves, paper towels, cleaning cloths, trash bags, spray bottles, and disinfectants), printer, business laptop, business phone with phone line, uniforms, business cards, business insurance and a website.

  • Business Plan

I will start by cleaning homes and small businesses. Using the referral system in my first years (as well as advertising my business with flyers, handing out business cards, and my website) to let the public know about my new business and obtain clients. My goal is to have 10-15 employees and be in at least one surrounding state after being in operation for three years. Then in 5 years be operating in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana cleaning homes, businesses, companies and restaurants. I am a single mother of two looking to create a better life for myself and my children. I am beyond determined to be financially independent and continue to provide stability for my household. I have been homeless, unemployed and never thought to give up on myself or my responsibilities. Always finding a way to keep a positive attitude and using my resources to change my outcome in life. I believe that starting my own business will allow me to really become independent in every aspect of my life and become a positive impact on the community.

  • Self Identified Competition

My top three competitors would be Clean House Cincinnati, Molly the Maid, and CPR Cleaning. They each have been around for five or more years and have excellent reviews online. What makes me different is my passion. I have the ability to put a great deal of attention and effort into what I do, and it shows through my work. I love to help people and something as simple as cleaning a house for a client can provide a lot of peace and joy. I believe that the services I provide will show each individual client how grateful I am to have their business. I plan on giving back to my community with education on proper cleaning techniques, and things that can be harmful so they can make sure their health is never in risk. As well as helpful day to day tips to keep things clean and safe. I want to run a business that shows the community how much the people matter and I believe that is what truly makes me different from all of my competition.
