VELA LASH BAR 850938173 | Government Grant Application

VELA LASH BAR | Application Preview

VELA LASH BAR is seeking government grants to address the financial challenges faced by their young business. The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, including shutdowns and limited operating hours, have hindered their ability to operate effectively and meet their full potential. They have incurred losses while hiring new staff who often do not show up, further exacerbating their financial strain. Additionally, high inventory costs in Alaska have made it difficult to maintain operations, leading to a precarious situation of near financial instability.

The business aims to expand their current 600-square-foot space to 1,300 square feet to provide education and training for individuals, particularly those from challenging backgrounds such as foster care or human trafficking. This initiative includes offering business development courses alongside ongoing esthetics and manicure education, with the goal of fostering independence for these individuals.

VELA LASH BAR recognizes the competitive nature of the beauty industry but believes they stand out in Anchorage due to their unique branding featuring "Lash Bar" and their focus on personalized, quality client care. They prioritize educating clients about services, creating a welcoming environment that emphasizes one-on-one communication. Despite uncertainties in the market, the business seeks funding not just for financial relief, but to create meaningful change in the community through education and support for aspiring beauty professionals.

  • Funding Usage

As a young business, the funding is highly in need. Due to the covid/pandemic/and state confusion of safety. And also the shut downs, and limited hours, not allowing us to perform on 100%. We have been paying for new hires who do not show. And have been losing money in order to gain employment for the people in the beauty industry to work for us. We are floating at the surface, but we are slowly drowning when it comes to staying open and keeping the lights on. Especially with inventory costing us an arm and a leg to recieve items into the state of Alaska. By the grace of light and God, we are in need of assistance. And qualifying for a loan is not an option.

  • Business Plan

Currently looking to expand our 600sqft space into a 1300sqft space to provide education and turn it into a school. To allow young men and women whom were in foster care, human trafficking, and or a farm and allow them to grow into independent person. With business development courses and continuous esthetics and manicurist education. To be honest, I don't know why they should invest into my company. At this day and year, investing is not the option for their is no stability. I am in an industry where I have the same business with a different concept into a multi-dollar industry. One day, I hope someone can invest in proper resources into our business and allow us to grow correctly for an educational change and not for the money.

  • Self Identified Competition

In Anchorage, we are the only business with a name that has "Lash Bar" in it that is store front and visibly well lit. The difference between us and others is that we appreciate our clients and provided educational facts and information before, during and after a service. We show the professional quality care that a lot of places are missing. and give that one on one communicative service for questions and responses to be answered, And not demised.
