The House of Dom | Application Preview

The House of Dom is applying for a $10,000 government grant, aiming to enhance its inventory and business operations. The plan includes allocating $5,000 for purchasing diverse clothing inventory to meet customer preferences in size and color. An additional $300 will be used for shipping supplies, such as a thermal label printer and packaging materials. The grant will also fund $700 for creating an optimized website, covering essential add-ons like automated email notifications. The remaining $4,000 will focus on boosting online engagement through continuous advertising on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Google.

In the next five years, the business plans to diversify its offerings to include fragrances, handmade bags, and shoes, eventually opening a physical store in Georgia with aspirations for further expansion. The applicant emphasizes a well-thought-out business strategy grounded in extensive research and a clear understanding of market trends, which will drive customer satisfaction and long-term success.

The House of Dom identifies its top competitors as KKBeauty, Fenty Beauty, and Sephora, striving to emulate their successful brand engagement while emphasizing its unique selling points. The business aims to distinguish itself by focusing on diversity, community support, and offering products made from vegan materials. This commitment to ethical sourcing and affordability is anticipated to attract a growing customer base looking for natural and organic options.

  • Funding Usage

I would use $5,000 out of the $10,000 to purchase inventory from multiple vendors. The inventory will include 10+ of each clothing so that it is enough for future customers in regards to their size and color choice(s). I will then use $300 to buy shipping equipment such as a thermal label printer, printer paper, boxes, stickers, tape, postage cards and thank you cards. I will use $700 of that said requested amount for website creation and expert aid. The website has been built but it required additional addons that must be purchased such as automated email notifications, abandoned cart emails, pop up emails, review emails after purchase. These are billed yearly. I will then use the remaining $4,000 to boost social media and website engagements. I will run continuous ads through Instagram, Facebook, and Google. I will also pay other websites to post ads of my business onto their websites to ensure engagement and traffic.

  • Business Plan

I plan to grow my business in the next 5 years by expanding my inventory and sell more items that can be useful for varieties of occasions. I will not only sell clothes but fragrances such as perfume and cologne, handmade purses and bags and shoes as well. I will eventually open up a local clothing store in Georgia and once that is successful, open up more stores in different areas. Private funding organizations and investors should invest in me because this has been a plan that has been thought out, outlined and researched for over two years. I understand what people want and what people are into buying due to research and science. I have considered all elements of marketing and customer service and I will implement everything that I have learned through business classes, meetings, research and observations. I plan to make my business more than just a local household name and it will be something that can still drive traffic years to come.

  • Self Identified Competition

My top 3 competitors are KKBeauty, Fenty Beauty, and Sephora. These three lovely businesses are my competitors because they are what I strive for The House of Dom to be. I want my business to not only sell clothes but open the door to venture into other businesses, just as the three business I stated above have. They have excellent teams behind them that engage with thousands of customers daily and they are always striving to create more for their business. My business is different from my competitors because it will include diversity and give back to the communities at all times. My business will be driven by opening doors for others and giving them satisfaction. Right now, the satisfaction will be wearing comfortable, expensive clothing for less. Eventually, it will be expensive, handmade, vegan perfumes and colognes for less and eventually handmade vegan purses, tote bags, and shoes. I would like to step away from the animal testing and stick to vegan material because I understand that many customers are steering in that direction. If I implement that into my business, that will set me apart from KKBeauty, Fenty Beauty, and Sephora. More people would like to purchase my items because they are natural and organic.
