  • Funding Usage

The funds we are generously asking for will be put to immediate use. 1) Repairing the structural needs of the building. 2) Re-establishing our scholarship & veteran assistance funds that have since been depleted as of March 19th, the onset of COVID - 19 in our county. 3) Assisting the immediate needs of veteran community to ensure their safety and well being.

  • Business Plan

We have several forecast models that are being contemplated but we are focused on keeping our doors open. We have increased our prices on menu items and beverage sales in order to make ourselves competitive. Plus, we have partnered with local radio stations and newspaper outlets to increase our visibility in the community for charitable purposes, hopefully gaining some revenue from that. We feel if the community can see the charitable work that is being done, this effort will lead to an uptick in donations. Also, partnering with local businesses, specifically eateries/restaurants for a Veterans night once a month, where the VFW will see a portion of the proceeds. Investors expect to see tangible returns. The only problem with that is the "return" they would see is intangible. Feeding a 74 year old, widowed Vietnam veteran, who has no family or his family has turned their back on him is the benefit we see. Taking the 38 year old Afghanistan War vet to his therapist in Dallas 3 times a month is benefit enough. His mind is slowly repairing itself, but will take time. Honoring the dead, fallen and dying veterans with funeral services, escorts, family services, are all things our post has historically done since its founding. All intangible, but nonetheless necessary. Since the onset of COVID, we have lost all sources of income. When that happened, that essentially pulled the plug on those that have counted on us for basic living needs or emotional support. I would hope that a potential investor would see the need of having this institution in their communities because giving back to those who have quite literally given everything is not a want, it is a need.

  • Self Identified Competition

This would be difficult to ascertain but if I had to make a list, there would only be two. 1)Other non-profits 2)Other restaurants/bars Our competition is limited, as we are a charitable non-profit but, I will try my best to answer the question. Since the founding of this post in 1965, our core values have ALWAYS been to serve our veterans in their time of need and to support the community. Period the end. We have never asked for anything. It seems that our message is heard and generally speaking, most people know what the VFW represents. But for those who don't I would explain it like this... We serve those who have served us. They risked everything to protect their fellow comrades, do their job and to come back home and live in peace. Many did not have that option to come back home. We will never forget the sacrifices they have made. Not only do we serve our veteran's but we serve the community with scholarships for graduating seniors, benefit drives for families who lost everything in a fire, or lost a loved one in a car wreck. How many charitable organizations on a daily basis, honestly, can say they do that?? Not many.
