Beau Visage LLC | Application Preview
Beau Visage LLC is seeking government grants to enhance its operations and recovery from the impacts of COVID-19. The funding will primarily be allocated for increasing advertising, hiring a spa manager, and possibly adding another service provider. This financial support will help cover payroll, advertising, and overhead costs as the business stabilizes.
Since its inception in 2014, Beau Visage has experienced significant growth, evolving from a one-person operation to a thriving spa in downtown Urbana, Illinois, with over nine employees. The owner aspires to expand the business into a full-service spa and salon, which would create more jobs and attract additional foot traffic. The business is also developing its own skincare line, enhancing offerings for both retail and spa services.
The application highlights a strong track record of resilience, even during challenging times like the pandemic. The owner successfully maintained financial commitments despite a sharp decline in income and actively engaged with the community through e-commerce and social media initiatives during shutdowns. This commitment to community well-being and employee empowerment underscores the business's dedication to growth and service.
While Beau Visage faces some competition from local salons that also provide spa services, it distinguishes itself by being solely focused on spa services and women's self-care. Its proactive approach includes educating the community via social media and hosting local events, reinforcing its role as a supportive presence in the community. The application emphasizes that Beau Visage's continual growth and resilience make it a worthy candidate for funding.

Funding Usage
Business is finally returning to somewhat normal and having the cash on hand to boost advertising spend, hire another spa manager and possibly another service provider would be exactly what we need to get through the aftermath of the COVID closures. The cash would be used for payroll, advertising and overhead expenses. Thank you for your consideration!

Business Plan
I've grown significantly in just the last 2 years, even through the pandemic! I went from being a service provider myself with one employee working out of a house to having a beautiful store front location in downtown Urbana, Illinois with 9+ employees! Right now Beau Visage is a spa but I would LOVE to be a spa and salon. This would employ twice as many people and bring a lot more foot traffic to downtown Urbana. I'm also creating my own skincare line not only to sell to the public but to use in spa services. As mentioned above, I've done nothing but grow since I started my spa business in 2014 (didn't become an LLC until 2016). I started out renting a small room in the back of a salon and worked alone. Within two years my clientele had outgrown that space so I bought a small house on a busy street in Champaign, IL and turned it into a spa. In that space I could have 1-2 employees. After two years in the house, I found a store front location in downtown Urbana, had a complete build-out, and within 18 months was able to remove myself from seeing clients, hire a spa manager and over 9 employees. Our first year in business in the new location we won the People's Choice Award! Unfortunately, only 6 months after I moved my business into the new location, we had to shut down because of COVID. Even during the COVID shutdown, I was able to create and profit (a little) from building an ecommerce site to sell our products. My team and I did DAILY Facebook live's to talk to our community about taking care of themselves and their skin through quarantine. Though my income went to virtually zero, I never missed a payment for anything. I used my savings to stay up to date on my lease and utilities at the spa and my home. I will always work. I love work. I love my business. I love being able to employ women in the community and I love being able to serve the women in my community. My track record in business is one of resilience and continual growth. You can take that to the bank.

Self Identified Competition
Maybe it's naïve to say we don't have competitors, but frankly we're the only business (outside of solo estheticians of course) in the area that is devoted 100% to spa services. There are several wonderful salons that offer spa services too so I guess you could consider them a competitor. If I had to list them, it would have to be Style & Grace Salon, Hada Cosmetic (but its a med spa with a medical director), and Rejuvenis Med Spa. At Beau Visage our main focus is women's skin and self-care in general. We are continually active on social media educating, encouraging and entertaining our community of followers. My employees use their social platforms to educate women on skincare and skin health. We also host community events at our spa, allow other businesses to have pop-up shops in our space and use our social media presence to promote other women-owned businesses in the community.
