Custom Wood Design LLC 85-1119612 | Government Grant Application

Custom Wood Design LLC | Application Preview

Custom Wood Design LLC is seeking government grants to support its expansion efforts. The funds will be used to purchase a new company van, hire a full-time employee, and acquire an Auger for reducing time on fence and deck jobs, all while managing normal operating overheads.

The business aims to achieve substantial sales growth, targeting $175,000 or more for the current year. Plans include adding employees, vehicles, insurance, and advertising to strengthen its reputation as a reliable carpenter in the area.

The owner recounts a significant turning point in life after a serious car accident in 2018, where reckless behavior led to a year without a driver's license. This period involved various jobs, but a pivotal moment came when a former boss offered support by helping him find housing close to work. By April 2020, after regaining his license, he purchased a truck and launched his business while still employed full-time.

With a competitive spirit and a focus on carpentry, the owner has learned through challenges, driven by a vision to see Custom Wood Design publicly traded on the NYSE. The competitive landscape includes businesses like Sierra Structures, Seegars Fence, and Harrison Fencing, but the unique drive and personal growth set Custom Wood Design apart. The owner is determined to showcase that success is possible despite a tumultuous past, demonstrating resilience and ambition.

  • Business Plan

10X is the Goal. I'm on track to reach $175,000 in sales this year, If not more. Add employees, vehicles, insurance coverage, advertising and continue to build a good name as a reputable Carpenter in the area. Because on September 29, 2018 I was involve in a near death MV Accident that was 100% my fault. I was young, reckless, and highly intoxicated. Since that event, I Spent a gruesome year of no drivers license. during that year i bounced from job to job based on whatever job worked considering my transportation dilemma. That stent included working for another competitor fence company, seegars fence company, yardnique landscaping, then DJS Solutions doing electrical on the road. One day standing on top of a walmart that our crew was working on, My former boss ( a good christian man) called me and offered me my job back. I immediately responded with the fact that I lived in Durham at the time and couldnt afford the uber cost to get to Carrboro (home of Fortress Fencing). He, Jason Truesdale, offered to help me get settled into an apartment walking distance from the shop. With his assistance, I walked to work for 6-7 months and busted my tail. In April of 2020, I was eligible for getting my license back. I had saved my money to buy a truck shortly after reinstating my license. The day after purchasing my truck, I was back on the road working my butt off building a hexagon shaped firepit/swingset combo. Then a month later, I got brave enough to create my own business and made it official. It was a rainy morning that I couldnt build fence anyways that I went to the secratary of state website, and created my business. I continued being a full time employee at Fortress Fencing and worked every night and weekend I had on y own projects. I did $27,800 in sale in 2020 while working full time for someone else. Then in February of 2021 the door opened for the next step. Fortress fencing shut down their residential department, which meant no more wood fence ( and i'm a carpenter). The first day they switched everyone from Carrboro to the Sanford commercial office, I followed the owner home to have a one on one conversation. I told him I'm ready to step out and make my business full time. He understood the motive since Im a carpenter and dont like building chainlink fence. During that conversation I jokingly made a commit, "well I guess this means sink or swim". Jason Truesdale paused, then said something I will never forget... "No, it's just swim. You the one that jumped out there and you're the one responsible for making it work. Sink is not an option." Since Then I've persevered through the first year. Lots of learning curves and some lessons learned the hard way. But no matter what, my passion is carpentry, and it is my duty and responsibility to keep this business growing. One day I will see the ticker "CWD" go across the NYSE as my business is publicly traded. That is my final dream, to see that ticker. the ticker that represents US confidence in the establishment that I created, to the point that they would like to own a share of my business.

  • Self Identified Competition

Sierra Structures Seegars fence Harrison Fencing My young drive to prove myself and the public that despite some wild younger years, I can be successful because I have the tenacity necessary to persevere and become successful.
