The Learning Branch 46-1780633 | Government Grant Application

The Learning Branch | Application Preview

The Learning Branch is seeking government grants to support its operations, which have been severely impacted by the closure due to Covid-19 since March 17. Although they received the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funds, those will only sustain them until July 1, 2020. The organization faces uncertainty about reopening, especially as they anticipate additional costs and challenges associated with new health guidelines.

Despite the difficulties, The Learning Branch has seen annual growth in enrollment and has adapted to the current situation by engaging families via social media and Zoom for distance learning. They recognize the challenges of social distancing for young children and aim to alleviate anxiety for both kids and parents during this uncertain period.

The application emphasizes the crucial role of early childhood education in social and emotional development, highlighting the commitment of the staff to support the next generation. While many small businesses are currently closed, the competition mainly consists of larger corporations offering full-day daycare and preschool services.

The Learning Branch distinguishes itself as a family-run preschool that prioritizes individual attention for each child. They cater to children with special needs and provide personalized support, employing creative teaching methods, including music classes and Lego camps. The organization emphasizes the importance of mindfulness in helping children manage stress and anxiety, reinforcing the need for financial support to continue their vital work.

  • Funding Usage

We have been closed due to Covid-19 since March 17. With no income really coming in since then I did apply and received the PPP, however that is only getting me through to July 1, 2020. My rental agency has been very supportive, but they are a small business too. With our county in Washington State, we will probably not be able to reopen in September and even then I am not sure if families will be ok with the new "normal" and more cost will incur as we have to go through CDC screen of children etc.

  • Business Plan

Our enrollment has continued to grow each year. We have been reaching out via social media and direct email contact with our families and children with zoom conferencing. Distance learning and social distancing is very difficult for this age of children, but we are taking an optimistic approach and are helping both the children and the parents deal with anxiety that comes at this uncertain time. Early learning is vital to a child's development. Their social and emotional growth is formed in these years and to be able to help guide this next generation is so important to myself and our staff.

  • Self Identified Competition

most small owned business are closed right now, so the top 3 competitors are more corporations that offer full-day daycare +preschool. Best Beginnings, Kiddie Academy, Evergreen Academy We are a small family run preschool. We care about every single child that comes through our doors. If that child has some special needs, we will have consultants come in and advise us on the best way that child learns and we have a lot of children that do not fit into the "normal" box. We like to think outside that box and help that child navigate in a way that they can relate to and understand. We are giving these children opportunities to learn mindfulness to help cope with stress and anxiety. We also offer different ways to teach, sometimes it is through a music class or a Lego camp.
