Kinnison Music LLC 499044595 | Government Grant Application

Kinnison Music LLC | Application Preview

Kinnison Music LLC is seeking government grants to navigate financial hardships caused by the pandemic, which has severely impacted their choral music business due to social distancing measures. Rather than pursuing non-existent opportunities during this period, they aim to rebrand themselves as an essential resource for choirs when they can resume practices and performances safely. Their strategy involves enhanced marketing efforts, particularly on social media where traffic has surged.

The company plans to transition towards generating passive income by building a library of choral music projects available for online purchase. The rebranding process will involve hiring professionals to update their branding and outreach strategies, including seeking endorsements from influential leaders in the choral community. Additionally, they plan to promote their offerings at music conferences and through online advertisements.

Kinnison Music believes that choral music plays a vital role in creating a deep personal connection with audiences. Their products, particularly choral rehearsal tracks, are designed to help singers learn their parts effectively at home, maximizing rehearsal time and enhancing overall performance quality. Their mission is rooted in the belief that the world needs the unique voices that choral music cultivates.

While facing competition from established entities like Choral Tracks and Choral Rehearsal Tracks, Kinnison Music highlights their unique advantages. As a husband-and-wife duo, they manage all aspects of their business without outsourcing, providing personalized service. Their background as music educators allows them to better understand and address the needs of choirs, making their offerings particularly effective and tailored for singers.

  • Funding Usage

Since we are a choral music company, this pandemic has hit us very hard financially. Our business has declined due to the strict rules on social distancing (choir practices, performances, etc.) and the fact that singing is considered to be quite dangerous at the moment. Instead of looking for business that is ultimately not there at the moment, we've decided to rebrand our company in order to position ourselves as a choral music necessity once choirs and choruses can get back to rehearsing together and performing safely. We have a business plan that includes advertising and marketing on social media since there has been more traffic on social media more than ever during these past few months. We also have taken a hit on our income from what we normally can give ourselves and although the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance has been helpful, it will run out at the end of July. However, that doesn't mean that our industry will be up and running at that time. So we will responsibly use this grant to position our company better than ever so that when it comes time for choirs to perform, our company will be there to assist in stronger, and more affordable ways for our clients.

  • Business Plan

In our choral music industry and business, our goal is to have the bulk of our sales be passive income. This happens by uploading projects that we've completed to our website for people to purchase. The more projects (recorded choral pieces of music) we have in our existing library on our website, the more choices our clients and others have to choose from and purchase from us - leading to more passive income. Our first step is our rebranding process. Up to this point, we've done everything in house and it needs a professional to come in and overhaul our logos, websites, and social media pages. The next step is contacting highly respected CEOs and presidents of choral organizations, both for-profit and non-profit, and asking them to endorse our company and product. This will then allow us to send these endorsements to other choral companies not in our specific industry to view and network with. Our last and final step is online advertisements and traveling to music conferences to purchase booths and market our business to teachers and choral directors alike. Choral/vocal music, unlike most genres of music, has a personal connection to the audience in the form of words and poetry. If you've ever experienced a song or a piece of music being sung and had goosebumps accompany your listening, this is your life changing because of the music. We aim to change lives through the power of choral music. But we understand in order for a choir or ensemble to give the most powerful performance, they need time in rehearsal to work those small details at the highest level of artistry imaginable. And even before then, the choir and singers MUST learn their notes, rhythms, words correctly. That's where our products come in. Our choral rehearsal tracks allow singers to practice the larger details in the comfort of their home leading to more time in rehearsal to work on small, life-changing details for the audience to experience. Our tagline says it all...the world needs your voice.

  • Self Identified Competition

Our industry is quite new. However, there are companies and people who have been doing this longer than we have. Choral Tracks seems to be leading the way. This company has the largest library of recorder repertoire. Choral Rehearsal Tracks also offers a similar service to ours and seems to have a large number of songs collected and recorded as well. Rehearsal Aids offers learning style tracks for choirs as well, but does so with the use of midi audio files rather than the use of real singers. Our main differentiating factor is that we are a husband and wife team and we do everything in house. There is no outsourcing. We also have an advantage of having a male and female voice to sing the appropriate harmonies written in choral music. We have another leg up on the competition in that we are able to appropriately sing the correct genre or style of each piece of music, making for a more efficient rehearsal for the singer or chorister. Both my wife and I were also music educators turned entrepreneurs. This helps us truly identify issues that a choir or music program can run into.
