river bed woodworking | Application Preview
River Bed Woodworking is seeking government grants to support their business expansion efforts. The funding will be primarily used to hire additional staff, improve operational efficiency, and enhance advertising strategies as they aim to reach a broader local market. Currently based in a rural area, their promotions rely mainly on word-of-mouth and social media directing potential customers to their website. The grant will help them move to a more advantageous location, cover employee wages while they establish revenue streams, and share their passion for woodworking with more people.
In the next five years, the owner envisions establishing a storefront with a workshop and a warehouse for their products, along with a workforce capable of serving clients across Indiana. Plans also include acquiring delivery trucks and installers to deliver products directly to customers.
The owner's background in architecture and lifelong passion for woodworking inspired the creation of River Bed Woodworking, which specializes in unique table tops, countertops, and slab sales. They find fulfillment in transforming customer ideas into reality. While their woodworking segment faces no direct competition in Indiana, they do compete in the slab market with a couple of local businesses. Their competitive advantage lies in offering exotic wood slabs at uniform prices, along with a range of woodworking services, allowing them to create custom, artistic pieces infused with passion and creativity. The owner hopes that grant funding will enable them to realize their goal of a thriving, successful woodworking business.

Funding Usage
Our goal if we were to get a grant for a business start up would be to hire more people to become more efficient, and expand into a more local area in order to attract more business. Right now we in more of a rural area, so our only source of advertising is word of mouth and social media, which directs people to our website. We would also like to spend a little more money on different ways to advertise our business. The amount we are asking for would allow us to expand into a better area and also allow us to hire workers and cover their wages long enough to start getting more revenue streams. We truly have a passion for what we do and would like to be able to share our talents with more people.

Business Plan
In the next five years I would like to have at least one store front with a shop in the back, have a warehouse that will house most of our products, and enough workers to do business all over the state of Indiana. I would also like to have delivery trucks and installers to take our products to their final destination. I graduated high school and decided I wanted to try my luck in college as an architect. I have always had a passion for designing and using my imagination to come up with new designs. I realized that college was not meant for me and I needed to find something else to direct my talents towards. My dad got me into wood working when I was really young and it has stuck with me ever since. After I left college I figured out that I was really good at building unique furniture and other wood working designs. I started business called River Bed Woodworking. We make very unique table tops, counter tops, sell slabs of wood, and so much more. I like connecting with customers to make their visions come true. I have been trying to expand my business in order to get more traffic, but I simply just don't have the funding to do so. I am hoping to get a grant in order to achieve my life goal of owning my own successful business.

Self Identified Competition
Right now in the state of Indiana, we do not have any competitors for wood working aspect of the company. we sell wood slabs also and our competitors for that aspect of the business would be Upscale Junk and Northwest Lumber. A majority of our wood slabs are exotic species brought in from out of country. We sell all of our inventory for the same price no matter the species. We also offer table making, furniture making, epoxy counter tops, and much more. Creating timeless pieces or art or furniture for our customers desires are what sets us apart from our competitors. We love what we do and each project we do has a lot of passion put into it.
