Plus 2 Studios 87-2625484 | Government Grant Application

Plus 2 Studios | Application Preview

Plus 2 Studios is seeking government grants to fully commit to their business for the next two years, allowing the team to focus on developing Virtual Reality (VR) applications. The funding will cover living expenses, hardware upgrades, and outsourcing specialists like artists and programmers.

The company is developing a comprehensive VR template that integrates essential features such as locomotion, physics-based hand interactions, full-body inverse kinematics, and multiplayer capabilities. This template will serve as the foundation for future projects. Their first product, a small open-world Role Playing Game (RPG) supporting up to four players, will build on the template. The ultimate goal is to leverage this product as a springboard for creating a larger VR MMO with advanced physics interactions.

In terms of competition, Plus 2 Studios faces established studios like Vankrupt Games, Ramen VR, and Stress Level Zero, each known for their strong VR offerings. However, Plus 2 aims to differentiate itself by enhancing the immersive quality of VR experiences, pushing beyond existing boundaries to create a more realistic and engaging user experience. They believe that while other developers include certain advanced features, none have successfully integrated them all into a single cohesive application.

Overall, Plus 2 Studios positions itself at the forefront of VR innovation, emphasizing their commitment to delivering a uniquely immersive and realistic virtual experience that goes beyond traditional offerings.

  • Funding Usage

This money will allow us to quit our current jobs and put all our effort into this business for the next 2+ years - allowing us to go 'full steam ahead' with our ideas and vision. It will also cover any expenses we will encounter along the way, such as hardware upgrades and contractor outsourcing (artists, programmers, etc.).

  • Business Plan

We are currently developing a generic Virtual Reality (VR) template that will include all of the base functionality we wish to have in our VR products, such as locomotion, physics-based hand interactions, full body inverse kinematic (FBIK) support, and multiplayer. It is our goal to always build upon what we have accomplished. This VR template is the first piece. After the template is completed we will work on and publish our first product. Anything we learn and create will be able to be used by any future product. For example, our first product is going to be a small, open world, Role Playing game that supports up to 4 player multiplayer. Once this product is published, we plan on using it as a stepping stone to creating a VR MMO physics based game. Simply put, we are on the fore front of VR applications. Our applications will combine everything that is great about VR, into one product - multiplayer interactions, physics based interactions, and FBIK.

  • Self Identified Competition

Our competitors are any other studio that produces VR games. Our top three competitors are arguably Vankrupt Games (creator of Pavlov VR), Ramen VR (creator of Zenith: The Last City), and Stress Level Zero (creator of BONEWORKS). Each of these companies have created popular VR experiences. Vankrupt Games utilizes multiplayer interactions, FBIK, and traditional First-Person Shooter game mechanics to lure players into their game. Ramen VR showcases what a VR MMO game can look like, with FBIK, multiplayer support, and a quick and easy locomotion system for exploring a large world. Though recently released, their product, Zenith: The Last City, already shows promise. Stress Level Zero relies on physics based interactions to sell their VR game - hoping to cement players into their world through realistic interactions. Virtual Reality (VR) offers endless opportunities. However, we believe the current direction most developers are taking the VR space does not live up the potential VR provides. We wish to stretch the limitations of VR, we want our users to feel like they are in a different world, not just look into a different world. Our products are being designed from the ground up to include as much realism as possible. Examples include, full body inverse-kinematic tracking, physics based hand movement, and physics based interaction. While other developers may be implementing similar features, including our competitors, very few have gone as far to implement them all into one application and none have done it well.
