Environmental Solar Solutions LLC | Application Preview
Environmental Solar Solutions LLC is applying for government grants to develop a minimal viable product aimed at reducing methane emissions. The funds will initially facilitate the construction of this prototype and later support experiments at active or abandoned oil and gas wells.
The company recognizes the urgent need to decrease atmospheric carbon, positioning itself to collaborate with oil and gas contractors and government bodies to implement cost-effective strategies for minimizing methane emissions. As regulations tighten on active drilling sites, the demand for innovative solutions will grow, especially for addressing abandoned wells where traditional methods, like cementing, are currently employed.
The team's background is a significant asset. The founder, a former United States Marine with an MBA from USC, combines leadership skills with business expertise, while his partners bring extensive experience in solar power and engineering. Together, they have established connections with motivated organizations to support their mission.
Importantly, Environmental Solar Solutions LLC sees little competition, as existing Vapor Recovery Units are tailored to larger operations, leaving a gap for solutions targeting smaller sites (500 bbl/day or fewer). By focusing on these underserved areas and utilizing natural processes to mitigate methane, the company aims to provide a more affordable alternative to current practices.

Business Plan
Due to the global necessity to reduce carbon and carbon equivalents from our atmosphere, our company is poised to work with active oil and gas contractors and government entities to quickly and cheaply reduce methane emissions. Active drilling sites will be more strictly monitored, requiring contractors to take more aggressive steps to mitigate their carbon footprint. Government entities will also collaborate with our organization as we currently offer a cheaper and more effective approach to dealing with abandoned/orphaned wells. During my time as a United States Marine, I gained immense knowledge/experience in leadership, communication, and team building. Upon returning from active duty, I continued to improve myself by attaining an MBA from the University of Southern California, which emphasized entrepreneurship and business development. My two other partners have 60+ years between them in solar power and engineering experience. We have made multiple contacts with organizations that can and are motivated to assist us in our endeavor.

Self Identified Competition
Currently, there are no direct competitors for us. Vapor Recovery Units (VRUs) are used on large active drill sites but our niche is the 500 bbl/day or smaller, which have no means of mitigating methane. Since VRUs are used on larger wells that we would not be focused on and the current protocol for orphaned wells is to fill them with cement, we stand out as an organization that uses natural processes to eliminate methane emissions. We believe we can accomplish this at a far cheaper price than what is currently being used.
