New Favorite Day | Application Preview
New Favorite Day is seeking government grants to purchase and renovate a facility that will serve as a publicly accessible space for housing strays and fostering community interaction with animals. The remaining funds would help acquire a van to transport animals from Texas to areas with higher adoption demand.
Currently operating as a volunteer-based, foster-only rescue in a small Texas county with a high rate of abandoned animals, New Favorite Day aims to establish a facility that can temporarily house up to 50 dogs and 30 cats within the next five years. The organization plans to engage local youth in responsible pet ownership, offer an apprenticeship program for high school students with an in-house vet, and host community workshops on animal training to reduce surrender rates. Additionally, they intend to implement a low-cost spay and neuter program to curb unwanted litters.
The grant approval is justified by the significant impact the organization has already made, with 112 dogs rehomed in its first year despite operating from a small home. The organization emphasizes collaboration rather than competition with other nonprofits, highlighting a commitment to help the community and animals collectively.
New Favorite Day's unique approach lies in its focus on serving its local community first and its vision to expand into other states, effectively streamlining the transfer of animals and mitigating the stray population issue. With a proper budget and resources, the organization envisions amplifying its positive impact significantly.

Funding Usage
Buying land and refurbishing or building a publicly accessible building to allow for housing more county strays and welcome the public in to interact with the animals. If any is left over, we are in need of a van to transport animals out of Texas to states that are in need of animals for adoption.

Business Plan
Currently, we are a foster-only, all volunteer rescue servicing one of the smallest counties in Texas with one of the highest animals dump rates. In the next 5 years, we expect to be able to afford a publicly accessible building where we can provide temporary housing for up to 50 dogs and 30 cats at a time. We will encourage the youth of our county to volunteer to teach responsible pet ownership. Once we are fully operational, we will employ an in-house vet with an apprenticeship program for the high school students. We will use the building to conduct community talks about how to train your animal in the hope of helping community citizens keep their animals instead of surrendering. In addition to this, we will begin to offer a low-cost community spay and neuter program to reduce the number of unwanted litters. We are doing tremendous good in our county, with very little to no community support. In our first full year, New Favorite Day assisted and rehomed 112 dogs just from the streets of Rains County. If we can do that much good operating out of a small house with all volunteers, imagine what we could do with a proper budget and support!!

Self Identified Competition
As a non-profit, we have no competitors - we have comrades. Especially in the animal rescue world, it's not about competing, it's about banding together to help our communities and our animals. Our main differences from other rescues in our area are 1) We take our animals primarily from within our own county. This allows us to service the people of our county first, and if there is extra space we accept animals from neighboring counties. 2) We have a vision to "franchise". Texas is one of the worst states in stray populations and shelter euthanasia. Many Texas rescues spend countless hours forming ties to Northern rescues to transfer dogs. I would like to cut out the middle man and open a branch of New Favorite Day in several other states to simply transfer animals between locations as needed.
