The Conetiks 851928532 | Government Grant Application

The Conetiks | Application Preview

The Conetiks is applying for government grants to develop a new product line called "Stemulants," which aims to innovate in the music creation industry. Their vision revolves around producing and selling digital music samples, specifically "stems," which are individual instrument tracks from compositions. This will allow musicians and producers, particularly those who may not play instruments, to access high-quality materials for their projects on a royalty-free basis.

The grant funding will be utilized to hire musicians for recording sessions, ensuring professional quality, and to support marketing efforts to promote these products. The business plans to create 25 to 30 distinct digital offerings, priced at $30 and $60, from a single studio session, thus maximizing output and revenue potential.

The Conetiks emphasizes their commitment to creativity and cultural rebuilding, aspiring to educate the next generation about music, business, and technology. They argue that investing in their venture equates to investing in the future of American music culture.

In terms of competition, their main rivals include sound library companies like Soul Surplus, The Rucker Collective, and MSXII, which offer similar products but impose additional fees for royalty rights under certain circumstances. The Conetiks' edge lies in providing truly royalty-free samples, allowing young producers to use their stems without parting with any future profits, simply crediting The Conetiks as collaborators.

  • Funding Usage

Our plan is a new product called “Stemulants” The music creation industry today is largely based upon the sound design aspects of it. This can include loops, oneshots and sound effects. These loops or oneshots are often played by musicians and sold to computer based producers who cannot play instruments as royalty free “inspiration” or samples. We will need the grant money to hire musicians to play our compositions. We will then package them and sell them as digital products and then use more of the money to help market and advertise the product.

  • Business Plan

We want to develop a line of musical library products called “Stemulants”. This product will be a springboard for other digital music products with some of the same premises. Stems are recordings of each individual instrument from a composition separated into their own files. For example, the guitar track wouldn’t be accompanied by the other instruments from the composition as a stem file, hence the name “Stemulants”. Essentially each composition can be broken into 3 to 5 products. This will allow us to create 25 to 30 different products at two price tiers one at $30 and the other at $60 a piece all from one 8 hour studio session with us and other musicians. This coupled with our songwriting, production, sound design, film and television endeavors will definitely grow our business. We want to continue to invest in more than just music. Our passion is creativity. We want to rebuild culture for the next generation and begin programs that teach youth about music, business, and how to use technology as a tool to further themselves. So investing in us would be investing in the future of America’s music culture.

  • Self Identified Competition

Our top 3 competitors are sound library companies Soul Surplus, The Rucker Collective, and MSXII. These companies create samples that are similar to our Stemulants product. However their samples aren’t truly royalty free, these companies only allow samples to be royalty free until they are placed with bigger named artists on the beats created by their customers and then request to be credited and compensated AGAIN after the consumer has already paid. We want to tap into the same markets as well as our own with products that are truly royalty free and all our customers pay are one time fees when they buy the samples. This allows young producers the opportunity to make money with only giving us credit as collaborators and not having to give us any cuts of their profit that they facilitate.
