Storybook Entertainment GE-089-906-3808-01 | Government Grant Application

Storybook Entertainment | Application Preview

Storybook Entertainment is seeking government grants to sustain operations after being unable to serve clients since March 13. The funding is essential to cover ongoing high storage costs, service bills, and marketing efforts to maintain visibility and promote future bookings. The business also offers free community Zoom events for children, which are no longer financially feasible without external support. Personal savings have been used to cover expenses, and there are concerns over the lack of income until 2021.

Founded in 2014, Storybook has grown from providing small parties to hosting up to 15 events daily, achieving a strong reputation with five-star reviews. Plans for expansion include corporate events and new services like photo booth rentals and themed shows. The owner is passionate about continuous growth and community engagement.

Storybook’s commitment to the community is evident through partnerships with organizations like Make-A-Wish and the Special Olympics, emphasizing the emotional connection fostered over the years. Although there are competitors, Storybook believes it stands out through its heartfelt service and dedication. The owner has actively improved the business’s online presence during the shutdown, showcasing a commitment to excellence.

In summary, the application highlights the need for funding to continue providing services that benefit both the business and the community, with a compelling case for the emotional connection and unique offerings that set Storybook apart from competitors.

  • Funding Usage

We have been unable to operate since March 13 and because we are entertainment based, we have no prospects of future income to cover our expenses until 2021. In order to keep us alive, these funds would be utilized to cover our HIGH storage costs, service bills, marking costs to keep our name relevant and promote bookings for future events therefor profiting from client deposits, web and internet services we utilize and not pause, scheduling and booking platforms we do not have the freedom to pause and fund the venture of our free community zoom events for children by supporting the costs associated with paying the actors, hosting the service, etc. We MUST do these kinds of things to keep our business afloat and relevant while also benefiting the community. Although they are free for the community, we can no longer manage them of pocket as they are not free for Storybook. We have 4 months of storage paid that has been taken out of our personal savings from my husbands job and forsee no income or government help in paying the next estimated 4 months with no income. To answer the question below, I have worked my tail off to grow my business to the point of being profitable by expanding using the income the business took in and I simply HATE the idea of having loans. I hope to not appear greedy by choosing this option, but I cannot put us into further debt by taking on a government loan when we have come this far on our own.

  • Business Plan

Storybook was a business I created out of my closet in a small apartment, back in 2014, and I am no exaggerating when I say I have worked 18 hours a day since then to bring it to where it is now. Once doing parties for children on my own here and then, we now do up to 15 events a day with glowing 5 star reviews. I set my sights to expansion and have not yet stopped. I envision us to grow into the realm of corporate entertaining, which we had dipped our toe into in late 2019 and into 2020. We plan to expand certain areas such a photo booth services, sounds system rentals...and even a dinosaur show...which was in the works before the shut down. There is no end for our growth in my mind, because if there was...there would be no point for me. I always want to be on a continuous path of growth and expansion and continue to help our community and become and established name. My heartfelt answer to this is that we devote so much of our time to help the community doing things such as partnering with the Make-A-Wish foundation, Cop on Top, Kids Wish Network, Shriners hospital the special olympics and many others. We devote a lot of free time to spreading smiles amongst the community and never did I think we would need help to continue that path, but sadly this is such an unforeseen circumstance. Our business deserves to succeed and come out of this not only for our own personal reasons but because the community has a special places in their hearts for us and they have been such a big part of our journey over the years. I truly can't imagine letting all of this go after what we have been through and how far we have come.

  • Self Identified Competition

I wouldn't say anyone provides the level of service that we do for most of our areas of entertainment we provide, but I would have to say businesses like Party Biz, Magical Touch, Balloon Monsoon, ect are in competition in certain areas. But we really are one of a kind in most of our services. We have heart. Some of those other business do to, but others do NOT. Others are out for the money and making a quick buck with cheap products because they have seen another company do it successfully with much hard work. But no one will compare with us because myself and my assistant truly love what we do and it doesn't seem like a job. We bring happiness and that is what makes our lives emotionally rich and not financially rich. Even during this time I have taken steps to improve our website by filming, editing and designing step by step tutorials and packages for our clients to have an easier time understanding all we have to offer. I took no breaks, as that is just not in my blood. www.StorybookHawaii.com if you want to take a look.
