Woodbury Cafe 561878377 | Government Grant Application

Woodbury Cafe | Application Preview

Woodbury Cafe is applying for government grants to support its operations during the Covid-19 pandemic. The funding will be instrumental in retaining staff and covering monthly utilities, enabling the cafe to continue serving the community and providing stable employment. As a working mother of two, the owner plans to hire additional help for when online schooling begins.

The business aims to expand through increased catering services and the purchase of a food trailer. The owner has been dedicated to the cafe for nearly eight years and values the staff as family, emphasizing the importance of steady income for their livelihoods. They also have a strong community impact, providing meals for the elderly through a local program and training high school students in culinary skills.

Located in a rural area with limited local competition, Woodbury Cafe faces threats mainly from nearby fast-food chains. Its competitive edge lies in being a family-owned business that transformed an abandoned church into a thriving cafe, thriving despite initial challenges. The owner is committed to maintaining a strong reputation, supported by loyal customers over the years.

  • Funding Usage

This funding will greatly help me to keep my staff employed during the Covid outbreak. We have tried to keep the business open as much as possible during this time to provide stable jobs for our employees and food available to our small community. Some help with monthly utilities and bills would also be a great asset to my business at this time. I am a working mother of 2 and I will have to soon hire more help so that I can complete online schooling with my kids in a few weeks since our district is only doing online schooling for the beginning of the school year.

  • Business Plan

I plan to grow my business by doing more catering jobs. We would like to purchase a food trailer so that we can expand to more places. We are a small business that I started and have run on my own for almost 8 years. I have worked through many tough times and always have come out on top. we love our employees they are like family to us and we want to continue to keep the business thriving so that they have a steady income for their own families. We love our customers. We provide food to a lot of elderly people within our community through a meals on wheels program. we also invest our time into training high school students how to cook and properly prepare food. We love hiring kids and teaching them and seeing the pride they have in their work is a great feeling!

  • Self Identified Competition

We really don't have to many local competitors we are in a rural area. we have one pizza shop close to us but I would say that our biggest threat is from fast food chains we do have a subway and McDonanlds within 15 miles of our business We are a very small family owned business. We started from nothing. We took an old church in our town that had been abandoned for years and renovated it into a Cafe. We had no experience or training. I have a degree in elementary education but decided to take a leap on this business and we are still here 7 years later! We have built up a good reputation and appreciate all the love and support our customers have given us over the years!
