Daisy Barn | Application Preview
Daisy Barn is seeking government grants to fund a home-based web business focused on selling home decor curated in themed packages, making it simpler for consumers to redesign their spaces quickly. The estimated startup costs total $4,700, which includes expenses for web design, branding, supplies, inventory, and postage.
The business aims to hire three individuals in its first year and expand to five by the second, contributing to the local economy. After 26 years as an educator, the founder has identified a need among consumers for convenient decor solutions. This insight led to the development of the 'decor in a box' concept, enabling customers to transform their spaces efficiently and affordably.
Daisy Barn faces competition from large retailers such as Wayfair, Target, and Walmart, but differentiates itself by offering a personal touch. Unlike these competitors, the business emphasizes customer relationships, providing a chat line for inquiries and customization options before shipping. With a strong desire to support the community and leverage her experience in personal relationships, the founder believes she can successfully carve out a niche in the home decor market.

Business Plan
Newly retired from teaching I have had a plan for a home based, web business for quite some time. I plan to employ 3 individuals in the first year and add 2 more in the second year. This will help the economy in my small town as well as build a strong business for the future. The business, Daisy Barn will sell home decor that makes it easy for the regular consumer to chose a theme and room design in one box. This will enable them to order and transform a room in one afternoon. As an educator for 26 years I have had a lot of experience with personal relationships and what people need. Moms came to me often asking for advice on decor and how they could quickly transform a space without a lot of fuss and money. I came up with the idea of "decor in a box" while helping others transform their spaces. I am an extremely hard worker, love helping my community and very motivated to succeed! By employing individuals in my community it will help boost economy and put our little community on the map even more than it is!

Self Identified Competition
Wayfair, Target and Walmart are huge box competitors that have ideas on their website. What they DON'T have is a personal touch that allows the customer to see examples of rooms that are done and what works together. My customers will be able to ask questions, trade items in the que and make the boxes work for them all at a lower than (Walmart ) price! Personal touch. A chat line that will allow customers to ask questions and make changes before their box is mailed out. Above all else, personal relationships which is my specialty.
